Anyone have experience with companies that do humidity control in basement here at lake-don't have leaks just humidity & tired of emptying standing dehumifier-I've seen ads for AFS & Oldshan

Have you  considered  connecting  a hose to the dehumidifier that runs outside so you don't have to empty the water?  I connected one to a pump that filled up and pumped the water up  to the window in the basement.

Agree with GF. We have a 40 foot shipping container that we use to store things tha might not do well in a humid environment. Bought an LG dehumidifier with the pump option and every time I open the container the humidity is at the preset value of 45%. Dont waste your big bux on one of those companies until you try the dehumidifier with pump option.

This is the pump I used. Ran a hose from dehumidifier to pump. Ran hose from pump to  small hole I drilied near window. Plugged in pump and dehumidifier into same circuit. Worked great.

Another time I raised the dehumidifier off floor in a workshop and drilled hole  thru wall below and let gravity feed water outside.

Hodja and I agree on very little except for this. Try a solution before you pay big bucks.

Well, we don't agree completely on this one. You don't need an external pump, as many dehumidifier models feature a built in pump. Look up the model at Home Depot with the ID

Internet #312405825

Model #APEL50LZ

Store SKU #1005131176

It is a very capable dehumidifier wit a pump built in, and if there is a convenient floor drain in the basement you can place the hose there, or in a sink or toilet.  The one in our shipping container has worked flawlessly for over a year.  Copied the from the HD web site:

We installed a unit about 5 years ago. Set it up to connect to the AC drain in basement. Works great. Solved our winter mold/mildew problem quickly.
