Yet another mass shooting by a mentally disturbed young man......the cause of which was his mental illness.  As with every one of these tragic events the left will call for more gun control.  Here are some facts that demonstrate the folly of gun laws and the absolute need to to tackle the real cause of these mass shootings.

Highland Park banned sporting rifles in the city a decade ago.

Illinois requires a universal background check for firearm purchases.

Illinois also requires what is called an FOID card to even shoot at a range.  The perp got one with his Dad co-signing.....his Dad is in deep trouble.

Illinois has red flag laws.

The perp was known to the police, as was his family.  He had a long history of mental illness going back to middle school.  Posted tons of graphic, violent videos on line....the red flags were everywhere and yet here we are.

The perp bought his guns legally....which makes me sick to my stomach.

So basically all the elements in the recently passed gun law and then some were in play with this recent shooting.....and none of them stopped this mentally deranged young man from committing this crime.  And no, he was not a right wing Trump supporter as the govt media is trying to portray him.  Like the shooter in Buffalo, he was steeped in violence, hip hop, drugs and alcohol, supported Antifa and appears to come from a dysfunctional family.  Ask yourself this question.....how many of these mass shooters come from a functional, two parent family that believe in Judeo-Christian values? 

It's the cultural rot that is causing these shootings and no amount of laws will prevent them.  Oh and by the way, over the 4th of July weekend 60 to 70 people were shot in Chicago and 8 to 10 died from gun violence in a city with some of the strictest gun laws in the country.......not a peep out of the govt media because it is mostly black on black violence so it doesn't fit their narrative.

I mean just look at the social media footprint of this nutjob and pretty much anyone with a quarter of a brain all they need to know to understand that he is not MAGA material.  Lots of posts showing support for Antifa.  Can't say that you see anyone that looks like that degenerate at a MAGA rally.

A voluminous social media trail for Crimo has emerged showing weaponry and an obsession with mass shootings; in 2019, he shared a random video of President Donald Trump’s motorcade. Crimo, whose music was recorded under the name Awake the Rapper, was also photographed at a Trump rally. Another picture showed him with a Trump flag around his shoulders. That came from a Twitter page he used.

Father of Highland Park shooting suspect sponsored son's firearm ownership card despite past violent threat

Police seized knives from Robert Crimo's home months before his father sponsored his application for a FOID card

His father was the REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE FOR MAYOR in Highland Park in 2019.

Fox News  The father of the 21-year-old man charged with killing seven people when he allegedly unleashed a hail of bullets on an Independence Day parade in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park sponsored his son’s firearm owners identification card two and half years ago despite two instances of police being called to their home over threatening behavior. 

Robert E. Crimo III, who was charged with seven counts of murder Tuesday, applied for a FOID card in December 2019 at age 19, Illinois State Police revealed in a press release.  "The subject was under 21 and the application was sponsored by the subject’s father," Illinois State Police said. "Therefore, at the time of FOID application review in January of 2020, there was insufficient basis to establish a clear and present danger and deny the FOID application.” However, the suspected shooter’s dad, Bob Crimo, 58, knew police had been called to their home twice earlier that same year because his son had threatened to kill himself and the rest of his family. 

In September 2019, a family member reported that Crimo had a collection of knives and said he was "going to kill everyone," Covelli told reporters. Police responded to the residence and removed 16 knives, a dagger and sword from his home. At that time, there was no probable cause to arrest, and no complaints were signed by any of the victims, Covelli said. The father claimed the knives were his, and they were being stored in the individual’s closet for safekeeping," state police said. "Based upon that information, the Highland Park Police returned the knives to the father later that afternoon."  

" Between June 2020 and September 2021, the younger Crimo also passed four background checks when purchasing firearms, through the Firearms Transaction Inquiry Program (FTIP), which includes the federal National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), Illinois State Police said.

 you act as if gun control is the objective of this gun bill.  It is designed to fail, and "they" will make sure it fails over and over again.  Then that will be the excuse for demanding seizures of all guns because gun contorl laws don't work and surpise, surprise criminals still get guns.  Of course it will only be those nasty AR-15's to begin with, then all semi-automatic guns, etc. etc..

They are saying that the injuries were like "war time" injuries.  They want to keep hammering the perception that the AR is a weapon of war and that it creates wartime injuries.  It started in Uralde Texas, and now it is another example for them to hammer in.  

Once again the parents did not look at the signs - violent videos, violent cartoons, mental health issues and then taking responsibility to get the knives back - knives that son said he wanted to killl everyone. If you look at his picture, you see the same dead eyed look.  He had no friends, remembered as a loner is HS, no job.  so his political persuasion hardly matters.

Once he did his shootup in Illinois, he planned to head to Wisconsin to do a shoot up there. All of these young men that ultimately being these shooters, have in commmon - no friends, a desire to use violence against other poeple, and indulgent parents who do not get their chldren the mental help they need.

Inconvenient observations but spot on.  It seems the current parent generation does not have the 8alls to reign their kids in.  I believe these kids develop this way because there is no existential motive in their lives.  They don't have to work for what they have, it is given to them.  Mommy and Daddy provide them with everything they need and they think that is "normal" and are free to do whatever.  And it looks like this daddy went so far as to take extraordinary steps that allowed his kid to get those weapons.  He needs to be put in a cell with his kid and they not be given anything but water.  Then they will understand existentialism and realize how much of our society has no clue as to what that is.  I wonder which would survive....

Yes, indulgent parentling must be part of the story.  just reading the parents statement makes me think that they do not plan to take any responsibility for their son's actions.   They will not face the truth.  The son has confessed, so hopefully, he will be locked up for life.

I don't have the full picture of his home life so it's hard to say for sure it was his parents fault.  They do seem a bit off and I still can't believe his dad cosigned for his FOID card.  But this could be a case of mental illness combined with the cultural rot and possibly parental malfeasance. Any way you look at it, it demonstrates that the new gun laws will never stop this because it is a refusal to address the root cause.

To me, does not matter if you label him right or left wing.  He suffers from significant mental illness that I suspect is related to excessive cannibis use, psychotropic medications for depression/anxiety/mood stabilization and most importantly, poor or non existent parenting.  The solution seems easy enough.  It is not taking guns out of law abiding citizens hands that they use for protection of their homes and families.  What I might suggest might not coincide with the Dem Party platform.

I've read a lot lately about how the cannabis of today is not what we grew up with in the 60's and 70's with regard to THC concentration.  Read an interesting article by a lady who went to Colorado and purchased some edibles so she could write an article.  Unfortunately she didn't understand the amount to be taken and her description of what happened to her was terrifying.  I still recall all the potheads advocating for legalization telling us how harmless it is unlike alcohol.  Doctors who treated substance abuse patients told a very different story.  I was not aware he was a heavy user but looking at his social media it is not surprising.

His Minister of Disinformation just said in a press conference that we have the strongest economy in our history.  I honestly do not understand what occupies the soul of someone that can make such absurdly false statements.  I can't figure out if it is cynicism about the ability of the average American, a reliance on the govt media to carry their water or what.  These new laws will not save lives...they will cost lives when law abiding Americans lose the ability to protect themselves. 

We live in an utterly insane alternate universe where praying after a football game is bad but allowing drag queens and LBGTQ teachers to prey on young students is good.  Where the solution to mentally ill young men that commit mass murder is to remove guns from people who would never commit such an act.  Where the solution to insanely high energy prices is to double down on the policies that caused the shortages and price hikes to begin with.  Where the solution to record high inflation is to throw more money into the economy which caused the inflation in the first place.  Where woke ideology is more important in the military than training them to kill people and break things.  Where a Supreme Court sending the issue of abortion back to the states to decide is unconstitutional but jailing people for years without a trial is not.  Where our President is senile, can't read from a teleprompter and is abused by his wife for all to see is fine but mean tweets are not.
