TMan - Not to debate the point, but it may be possible that you've had way too many weekends altered by idiots. They just happen to be on PWCs. You probably ran across a number of idiots on the road to and from the lake, work, etc. as well. Unfortunately PWC/boat operators are made up of the same cross-section as the rest of the population so there'll be some morons mixed in with the considerate and reasonable folks......

Logical but probably incorrect. I suspect that PWC's are predominately operated by a different profile than the average boater. A much younger profile that is immortal and bullet proof to begin then mixed with less experience equals a higher sampling of idiots per boat.

Here is an idea that worked for me. Just take 2 2x12 and space them 21 inches apart with 2x4s. It will give you rails that you can just attach to the bank or in my case a boardwalk. Once they are secured to whatever, all you have to do is ride them up untill they are out of the water. If you want you can email me and I can send you a pic of mine. I have 4 of the beasts and last summer they worked great.

Yes...this works very well..and is much cheaper...they also last a few years...but if you wnat to disconnnect are kinda heavy..this is all I have used for the past 5 years...might want to put some carpet on the rails

You are absolutely right! I am living proof that miracles happen and guardian angels exist. I actually don't have a problem with the kids unless it becomes an endangerment to me or my fam...Ride On!
Now about that lift. I need one too. I am looking at the wheel type lift that mounts to the side of the pier. Anyone have comments on that type of system? I used to have a swing out-swing in hoist crank-up but that was a pain to use.

My contractor just unbolted a wheel-type PWC lift from my dock. We built a boat house, and the thing -- which was installed by the previous owner -- was in the way. I'd planned to sell it once the summer season got underway. Tell me how to get in touch with you, if you're interested. (Sorry, I'm new to the site and really don't know the protocol for exchanging contact info.) I also know a dealer who claims he's got used lifts coming out of his ears. I think he charges about $450 for a used, wheel type lift.

We have been using the floating type for the last couple of years and they work great. They are made by Shore Master. The company that installed them came right out and did a great job. They advertise in the Lake Martin Living Magazine, but I can't remember the name right now.
