I have heard from several different people around the lake that the bridge over Blue Creek is to be raised and construction will be complete by 2006.

My guess is that this is only a rumor but wanted to see if anyone out there can validate the rumor.

Thanks.

Being that I would be the one that would be in charge of doing the plans or coordinating with a consultant. I can say that any improvement to the bridge at Blue Creek is not even in our 5 year plan and there hasn't been any talk of replacing or upgrading that bridge. However we are about to let a project to replace the bridge over Elkahatchee Creek. This is on 49 south of Blue Creek. So in other words it is as you say a rumor. And in fact a misleading rumor.

Waventure are you talking about Saugahatchee Creek towards Reeltown? Elkahatchee is on hwy 63.

Hey Wave Venture....

Is that the one at the bottom of the hill....just before you get to Reel Town?

If so....I'm sure no traffic will be able to pass for a year or so....right?

I remember when the 1-lane LoveLady bridge was rebuilt a few years back.

It was really inconvenient....but it's also much better now!!

If you guys ever decide to rebuild the Blue Creek bridge.....Please send me a private E-mail about a month before you go public with it.....so I can buy up some lake property over there...; ) : )

Stratman.....: )

Several years ago in order to pass a 5 cent per gallon gasoline tax the state put out a list of bridges that were in dire need of repair or replacement. (Typical scare tactics) They claimed these birdges would be fixed and roads would be built or upgraded all over the state. Well the gas tax was passed, and suddenly the list of bridges got revised. The Blue Creek bridge was on the original list, but not on the revised list.

I would bet that it is started/continued by someone with a vested interest in having a higher bridge there! Now who would gain most by having better access to that part of the lake, or least in making folks THINK that better access was on the way.

You are right it is Saugahatchee. We have already built Elkahatchee. ( I was looking at the agreement about the old bridge at Elkahatchee and had it on my mind) Sorry about the mistake.

A detour is already in place and being used by trucks and schoolbusses (well they are suppose to be using it) and if they knew what kind of shape the bridge is in they would not want to cross it anyhow..

Well, my place is on the "bad" side of the bridge and I would rather the bridge stay low. Keeps all of the big boats from coming over going to "The Cove" restaurant and keeps traffic down in general.

Of course, my property would increase if they did raise it. But I don't want to sell anyway.

Thanks for the response Waveventure.
