Direct TV offers a remote box for additional $5.00 a month if you have service at your home residence, you just have to buy a second dish. If your living on the lake... They both have TIVO Type boxes now...so either one with the digital recording box. I have Direct on the lake. Direct TV also gives a $10.00 discount if you have a decent bellsouth calling plan.

what is wrong with regular cable? charter for a while was running a special for digital cable, internet, all the movie channels for about 80$ a month...we had it at our lake house, and now have it at our auburn house...it is a smokin' deal if you need internet. can you get local programming on direct or satellite....it has been a while since I had dishnet, and that was my gripe (not that the lake martin area boasts a robust broadcasting community!)

That is a good deal since I am paying $16.98 more than that a month with Comcast and not getting any premium movie channels. Everything is less expensive in Alabama. Happy that Alabama & the Lake are my future home for more reasons than just the low cost of living. (Well maybe not sales tax~)

Been told Dish offers local programming out of Birmingham...I'm getting Dish and will report back in a few months.

Had Dish for several years. Now have all four broadcast networks out of Montgomery since last Septermer. To do this, had to get a bigger dish in order to point at two different satelites.

In BlueCreek area. No internet. Get 50 channels for $31.99 a month. No movie channels but ESPN (both). Mainly hang out there.

Was with Charter at cabin but seemed every few months they raised the rates. Have Charter at home with internet. Runs over $90 a month for both. However, internet service is very fast. Just not enough TV watching at cabin for the $40+ monthly fee.

Been with Dish since last October. The local channels come out of Montgomery and you get all of them. ABC, FOX, NBC, CBS and a couple of locals.
