I was reading a post talking about the desire to have more restaurants, shopping, etc near the lake. I have to say that the Tigertown development in Opelika is pretty close to the ticket. if that is what you want(I personally do not...I would rather bond with a beer and some Kingsford). Anyway, a 35 minute drive is very comparable to anything in Atlanta due to traffic. Additionally, you usually have to wait 30 minutes to an hour for any decent place.

As for property values, the Florida coast has gotten to be such a joke. Condos on the beach start at 800-900K. Crowded and expensive. I will take my peaceful cove lot and cabin with $1.00 Niffer beer and a charcoal grilled steak at the Dawg for $15 bucks anyday!

You didn't mention the babes @ Oskar's. Probably because the eyesore across the street makes you nauseus before you enter.

Deepdiver , seems like you might be a little jealous or afraid of progress. The eyesore you are referring to is now gone. Relax, enjoy your time at Oskar's and the lake. Take a deep breath and dive into something enjoyable and worthwhile and not into something you know nothing about.

I would imagine that your own property was also an "eyesore" as it was being developed. Why don't you try being a little more positive until it's finished. You know, butterflies don't start out being beautiful.

I love your analogy Lakelady....truly...but, and there's always a "but", nothing beats nature. Anywhere, any place...especially on a lakeshore when you are trying to enjoy the lake, does anything made by man compare to natural woodland and folliage. Thanks for consoling....understanding and gentleness are seldom found here...:)
