Saturday afternoon, I had stopped the boat to help my son get his wakeboard in, when my cell phone rang. My daughter anwsered it for me. It was my husband (who was letting me do the lake thing myself this weekend) making sure I hadn't wrecked the boat, or hadn't tore the boat house down trying to dock. A boat came by and rocked our boat, sending my dauhter (who was standing) backwards, knocking her arm on the windsheld and her into a seat, and the cell phone in her hand exactly 37.9 feet underwater. :-/
I put out on email to the ones I could not to anwser my phone because there was a good chance "Cat Fish Bob" might try to illegally use my cell phone to call the Starkist Tuna.
I 've got a new cell phone , and went this morning to West Marine and bought one of those plastic bags for my phone. The bag doesn't "float".
Besides tieing one of our bouys to my phone, is their something else that I could purchase that WILL float? (or is this something else I need to invent?)
Any logical suggestions?
This should be a commerical,......
New cell phone $260,.....
Water proof bag $22,.......
expression on daughter face ........ priceless!

...take a small size zip-lock baggie....put your phone and your vessel license into a beer coozie(hugger)....zip it up tightly and place in pocket of boat...will float and cost pennies......however, no remedy for phone if it is out of bag (in use)--just watch out for the big waves

...large cork or something like that would do.
I'm sure there is something out there that is made for this kind of stuff.
But, here's what we'll do...
Go to Wal-Mart or any Bait and Tackle.
Find the largest cork out there and get a small rope/string and put a small D-clip on one end...cork on the other.
Leave the cork-string-clip combo in the boat and attach to cell phone protective case's loop when in the boat.
Oh yeah, get a cell phone protective case, too.

These work great for carrying in a PWC or boat. Watertight, floats, etc. Won't help while your daughter is using the phone, of course......

I bought a cell safe at Adventure Sports in Auburn works great.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
Since I bought the "cell phone bag" from West Marine, I will use that. (I got a larger bag so I could at least get into it with ease if needed.)I have also bought (from Wal-Mart ) a yellow floater, that I am attaching to the bag with a lanyard. If this thing goes over, this baby is gonna float!
Thanks again!
