As I have recently brought a business to Auburn for mosquito control, I was wondering if the Lake Martin Area has much of a mosquito problem. Possibly looking to expand, any input would be much appreciated. Thanks

I'm not sure about other parts of the lake but the Blue Creek area doesn't seem to have any problems. That's one of the things that our guests always say to us when they come over is they never received a bite. I think we had 2 people last summer say they received a bite. (I think 1 of those was an ant bite).

Maybe one of your systems is at a neighbors house and it really does work?

Same in Pleasure Point, nothing that a candle and fan can't handle. There are some mosquitoes( at night ) but nothing very aggressive. Unlike Atlanta, where I live full time, the night is problematic.

Just for grins, why do mosqitoes get active at night?

No real problem in the Anchor Bay region either. I assumed it was due to the multiple Purple Martin habitats in our neighborhood, but after a little research, I discovered that although the Martin's are voracious insectivores, they feed mostly during the day and at heights where mosquitos are not routinely found during the day. Mosquitos on the other hand are out mainly at night and are found in damp low lying areas during the day. Rarely do they cross paths.....But something is feeding on the mosquito population, I wish I knew what it was.

Thanks for the feedback so far, and good question. There are many different species of mosquitos, most of which are nocturnal. However, the main reason for activity at night is that nearly all species of mosquitos feed between just after sunset and early in the morning. During the day mosquitos lay low in damp warm places, such as bushes and other places that offer some type of structure. As for your mosquito problem back home, we are based out of Atlanta and there is a contact number for the Atlanta area through the link that I origionally posted. If you are looking to get rid of them, give that number a call, estimates for a custom system are free.

When I was younger I remember seeing cropdusters buzzing the shorelines spraying something on the water. We all assumed it was for mosquito control. Of course, this was a long time ago.

Best pest control I have found ( flying pests ) that keeps them away , ants and roaches too, Skin-So-Soft.

I think that bats are feeding on the mosquitos. We have had a bat problem down near bama park. Had to get some Bat away to keep them from sleeping all day in my umbrella on the dock.

Hey coopercreekgirl. Little bat houses are available and are also easy to make. Type "Bat Houses" in on search and you will see. Bats will keep you from many skeeter bites and so will mud martins.
