Why were 8 lakes excluded?
Why were the boats that the bill was originally written for grand fathered?
What will this bill accomplish?

All great questions. I am sure that the word "undesirable" will be in the verbage somewhere in the answer. I reserve the word "undesirable" in my vocabulary for things like canned asparagus and Roseanne Barr. Things I don't desire but don't need legislation to protect me from it.

Just to give you some info that I have heard on the rumor mill by some people in the know... you can do with it as you wish.

APCO was the big pusher behind this bill for the fact that they wanted cigarette boats off of Lake Martin. The development story holds true for Dial and Liards district and that is why the larger boats (over 30 ft. 6") are on the bill as well. They needed to ensure that there would not be overcrowding of their lakes by houseboats so that individuals who wanted to live on the water would be forced to buy their condos instead of purchasing a boat and placing it in a slip. It seems they were trying to please everyone. Not sure what is up with Lake Weiss or why it was on there. Anyways, that is my two cents...

Have you priced a houseboat lately? Very close to condos... some more.

On the Corps lakes it is illegal to live in a houseboat. I guess there are oddball folks that do but I'll bet you can't get mail there.....
