An article in the Outlook at www.alexcityoutlook.com outlines the tax reappraisals for Tallapoosa and Elmore Counties. It seems to me that lake property owners need to be wary of these efforts to raise taxes on the lake by reappraisals. County politicians would probably love for us to absorb an undue amount of their annual budget. Reappraisals of farm land, commercial property, and off lake properties should go up also depending on their true value. Absentee owners of lakeside property will be ripped off if they aren't vigilant.

Bragging about low taxes too much will surely give politicians all the ammo they need to justify raising your taxes thru unfair reappraisals and not millage increases as is customary.

I guess it best I keep my key board quiet on this subject for a change. You know how itchy I get on the subject. I really hate the redbug or chiggers.

OOPs, I am itching. Property tax is Federal Income tax deductible plus State Income tax deductible. Sales tax meets no exemptions. Lets not discuss luxury tax which will not help you unless it is the luxury of your property. OK, we can tax the luxury boats or allow it if a tax deduction on your 1040A either property tax or interest expense paid expense.

OK, Lets hear it . Maverick, Jump in and add to the tax expemptions.

You can always appeal. The earlier in your ownership the better. Do the math...

Actually, for those of us who live in Florida with no income taax, we can now deduct sales tax. It was a change last year. Actually, anyone can deduct sales tax just can't deduct income and sales.

Last year you could deduct sales taxes, but not this year. Us Floridians are shafted again. We need to move to Alabama.
