Any preference? Looks like we'll be needing one for next summer. We'll be adding to our family in November!

Congratulations! We got one from Wal-Mart. It is the one that the strap goes through the leg and then has the head support thing. Our daughter was born in Feb 04 and was a premie. She took her first boat ride that April and weighed maybe 5 1/2 to 6 pounds and will still be able to wear it this summer because the weight goes up to 35 pounds. When we go to the lake this weekend I'll find out the brand for you. We bought another one from a friend and I really like it but the weight limit isn't as high though.

I too would be interested in the make/model, etc. of the jacket you have. My g'daughter just turned two, and has absolutely no fear of the water. Last summer, she would just walk off the end of the dock, never minding whether there was anyone there to catch her! I want to make sure she's always in a life jacket if she's not in the house...

and, by the way, congratulations!

My daughter has no fear either. Last summer she'd take her jacket off and started jumping off the floating dock by herself! Scared the daylights out of us. I signed her up for swimming lessons at the YMCA today! She starts the day after Easter.

Kowaliga Marine has the best I have seen - they are pricey (about $60) but they keep the baby's face out of the water.

Just be sure to get one like the linked below Type II for infants. They have a flotation pad behind the head - critical for little ones.

Big surprise - Cabelas sells them for less than Kowaliga.

Congrats!! We are expecting our first on June 3rd of this year. They have some infant lifejackets at Target that looked pretty good. We haven't bought one yet, but I too have started looking. Thanks everyone for the insight!
