We have some people in our neighborhood that are feeding the homeless dogs. This is very good in that it shows you are good people and have a kind heart. The only thing wrong with this is that it is the only part of their needs that you are caring for. What about their shots and other medicine they need. If you would take these animals to a shelter then they could find them a good home.

Another thing wrong with feeding them is they roam the neighborhood fighting the other dogs. If these homeless dogs happen to get rabies then they will spread the disease to other dogs. Children are playing outside all the time and could be bitten and killed by these animals. I called the sheriffs department and they said they could only take action if someone was bitten. Can you believe that crap. Several pets have been been bitten and some killed by these animals.

So you people who feel sorry for theses homeless dogs please put a little thought in what you are doing and what your responsibilities are. I tried talking to a couple who are weekenders about the problem they create but the lady of the house lost control and started screaming at me ( quite comical ). Now I believe ownership falls in here somewhere and will probably be tested in the near future.

The area of the lake I'm talking about in this case is Centerport Road. If your really care for these animals, do the right thing and take them to a shelter.

I had to shoot one. Sad story for the dog's owner. I think he did not believe me when I warned the man. The dog was an Atlanta pound rescue dog. Someone else thought it was too vicious and turned it into the pound.

It attacked my wife but she got back into the car. Then It threatened me twice but I got away into my house. Fourth time it had me cornered and raised its hackles, lowered its back, adavanced on me in a low crouch baring its teeth while emmitting a low growl. What was I to do? Fourth strike was one more than "you're out!"

MM that is exactly my point. Why couldn't the local law enforcement do something about this. There is no lease law and there is no animal control. On my street which dead ends on a point there is a section of 50' that has two " no parking " and one " $500 dumping fine " signs that were put up and no one knows why. Now why can't we get help with stray dogs. Someone is going to have to be seriously hurt before anything will get done.

If you are talking about the dogs past the S curve on the left i don't feel these people are being kind to animals, i feel they are being inconsiderate to others. They have no respect for the rights or property of other people. As far as the sheriff goes they have stated(when returning property of our that there dog tore up) to watch the children the dogs were agressive. Those dogs bite someone at our house i want need the sheriff he will need a backhoe to bury all of his dogs. And then we will have a talk.

An animal control unit may work in a big city. There men with radios and nets can corner loose dogs and catch them. 10,000's of houses to support a unit. Too expensive in a large, sparcly populated County.

I know how hard it is to to talk with city people who are suddently in the woods. They think that all this woods is free use, open or public. Of course its someone else's land that ends in someone else's house. I hear "what does it hurt?"

My sister-in-law moved into the country. She let her female dog out and it had mutt puppies. My wife warned her brother to keep it under control. Sister-in-law said "I didn't move into the country to chain up my pet. Its cruel."

The female dog gets killed by car and now there's motherless puppies. Who's cruel then? This is Human nature. This happened thirty years ago and the last post was a year ago. No change.

I tried to send this three times with the word a dog show person uses for "female dog" that sounds like itch and It was not posted and it went here.

I agree theres no place for homeless dogs. They only create problems. I have small children and I get a liitle nervous when neighbors dogs that have homes roam around. You never know whats going to set one off.

At the lake you have to enforce your own leash laws. A 22L to the head and feed the coyotes.

This is in my neck of the lake/woods. There are a number of dogs that wander through the woods between my cabin and the road, but I thought they were just unleased, neighbors' dogs. So far, they haven't been aggressive - just stand there and bark loudly whenever I walk outside. But during the night, they roam and the dogs immediately next door (beind a relatively flimsy fence) raise a huge ruckus. I will say, in defense of the newest neighbors, that they did bring their dogs in when I complained of the all night long noise, and have continued to do so whenever I am at the lake. Your posts now make me somewhat fearful of having my 2 y.o. g'daughter there. She has two pretty big dogs at home and wouldn't be afraid of any dog. Sounds like a recipe for disaster... I have often wondered if there was any animal control out of Dadeville. From what you all have said, apparently not. Guess I'll invest in some pepper spray - I don't own a firearm.

I got extra. Since that one attacked me, I don't wait for the fourth attack like last time.
