Tell me more about catching those Smallmouths in Tallassee. What is the best way to catch them? Do you catch a lot of them? How big do they grow? In other words, tell me everything that you know, especially if I can catch them from the bank, as I can't get a boat down there. I would love to catch some Smallies to move me towards a bassin' Grand Slam

I havent fished up there much the last 2 years, but we went up there when they had the water running and caught the smallmouth. We would usually only catch a couple each time we would go and the biggest one weighed about 2 lbs. We caught them on small buzzbaits thrown into the current, blue fox spinners, shad raps and small jerkbaits. We caught mostly spots, an occasional largemouth and a few stripes. The fish would school some when they turned the water on and we would catch a lot of them that way. I have never tried but you can probably catch them on plastics while the water isnt running. We just always had more fun when they would run the water.

Thanks for the info. I will start to explore some up there and see if the area below the turbines is fishable. One more question. How do you get to that park with the boardwalks and boat ramp on the western shore? I've never been able to find my way down there.
