Was I on the money with my diagnosis?

No. As it turned out, the customer had flooded the engine just after his last tune-up(May 07). We checked everything but the spark plugs/we had just replaced them last month. I guess they never really cleaned themselves back up from being flooded. We changed them out and all is great. I felt like a dummy. Sometimes we can't see the forest for the trees.

Thats an easy miss if you just changed the plugs. I had the same experience with a four wheeler. Only difference is we actually took it out and looked at it. It still looked brand new so we put it back. That wheeler sat for weeks while we messed with the carb, and then a new plug fixed it.
