All this talk got me worried since I didn't have one on my ski boat; I'm guessing there are many of you in the same "boat".

For those still avoiding the issue, I'm now legal and it was an easy and inexpensive install. I ordered the switch on Amazon (about $16 after shipping) and bought a few electrical connectors at the hardware store. My son and I installed it last night in less than 30 minutes. Total cost was under $20.

Did the install require another hole thru the dashboard or is it another type switch? Similar to adding a cigarette lighter in dash?

I placed it on the side in front of the throttle. It could go about anywhere as long as you have some extra wire. It does require a hole (about 9/16ths) to secure the switch. I considered an under dash mount or fabricating a bracket but went with drilling the side panel after looking at various options. It looks like it was always there.

Thanks for the info. Final question.
Wiring. Did your kill switch call for breaking the negative ground lead behind the ignition switch and taking it thru the kill switch? Was that all the wiring?

I have 3 wires and one was purple; that is the one Reid Mitchell told me to try. I disconnected it and ran a trail with the switch before I installed it. The motor would still turn over with the purple wire disconnected but would not start, so I ran it through the switch. After doing this, the motor started and then stopped when I pulled the lanyard.

If you have different colored wires, I would run a similar test and see how it works.

Purple wire is the "ignition" wire, and runs all your gages. Without the circuit, your engine will not run...
