HOBOS state that they represent boaters. Aparently "Boaters" have no clout...

"In this short time, the HOBOs have grown to over 2,000 homeowner and business members who expect us to positively influence both governmental decision makers and Alabama Power Company to better manage our lake levels and to maintain water quality second to none."

"As representatives of the largest impoundment in the state, with over 7,600 homes, and many affected businesses, the Lake Martin HOBOs are uniquely qualified to share the economic impact of the lack of water. We would like to explain the true cost of low water levels on our economy; it is not only about recreation, it is about lives and livelihoods."

Leave the boaters out because their "plight" is recreational and doesn't have the same emotional impact as others...? Did someone forget that the entire economy is in peril? What is the honest affect of low water? Did anyone not use the area as much BECAUSE of the low water, or just inflation and recession?

I'd say you would not hear anything from them any time soon either since they are useless. Well you might have them contact you if you’re due for a renewal on your membership, I'm sure they’re getting low on beer and hot dogs. Funny I did not hear from them when mine expired?

No one would die. If there were an actuall drinking water emergency there are agencies that would take care of that. Or, they would move the people to shelters. I couln't imagine any situation where low water would cause death. Very bad situation, costly indeed, but - DEATH??? Unless something else would cause spontaneous death, such as people continuing to jump from chimney rock onto the ground below. Please explain why people would die from low water..

Sir, it was joke and I think that their terminology was idiotic.

I was making light of the phrase.

PP, it was obvious from the very beginning that they didn't care about boaters. In fact if the puppetmaster had his way we would have NO BOATS on the lake except kayaks and canoes. Funny how they worded the letter so that the casual reader would think that the HOBO was responsible for the temporary changes that were approved last year.....lol. What a joke. They also try to make it sound like they represent 2000 seperate households and that all of them are lakefront properties. What a waste of effort and energy they are, but it makes a few folks feel important so I guess thats all that matters.....lol.

I still hold out hope that they will find an agenda that I can jump on the band wagon. As I said earlier, I would like to see more development for true public use, such as State park in southern end of the lake. Not sure that is possible, but a worthwhile effort. There are alot of people who can afford to camp who would have lots of money to spend around the lake, but who can't afford homes...
