Me either, but I tend to think it is. I have seen the video of the Isreali F-15 landing with one wing, so I know it not impossible.

Thats an incredible video to watch. As a private pilot I want to believe that a guy that low that has a wing separation could pull that off. It's really hard to imagine even in a great plane like an Extra. I've watched it several times and there are moments of discontinuity in the video that may be suspicious.

Real or not its a great video to watch.

OK... passed it around to my Aerospace contacts.

It's an RC plane vid with some good photoshop work done on it....

"Come on guys its an RC plane and some real good Photo Shop work.
Look at the end and the guy opening the canopy...do you see the wing missing.

I had seen that one as well and I understand it is a true story. I wasn't implying that the video was fake but I was saying that as a pilot its hard to overstate how incredibly difficult it would be to do that. Combine that with the video and it begins to feel like it might be authentic. If it is a fake they did a great job with it and I would love to take aerobatic lessons from that guy. Have a great weekend.

I would like to know if it is real or not. It looked to me like he caught a couple of lucky breaks and did some amazing driving. One pilot type fella said it was simple, he obviuosly didn't have a parachute.....lol.

Please see the following link. I've had several people send me this,
but
if you look closely you'll notice that when he flops upright onto the
runway, the plane appears to have little mass. And that's the main
problem with this: If you lost your wing at several thousand feet of
altitude, how do you account for f=m*a? No light GA aircraft has a
power/weight ratio above 1, or even close, so how to prevent
accelerating
toward the ground (gravity) with no lifting surface to bring to bear on

the problem? There are a number of utube videos showing actual model
aircraft losing their wings, with the pilots recovering in a similar
manner to this video, but then they do have power/weight greater than 1.
