"Free at last , free at last. good God Almighty I'm free at last." I am now totally de-Charterized. Cable and DSL gone. On to collections. Appreciate the advice Water-Watcher and all y'alls opinions. Decided on Dish because Direct TV doesn't get local channels at my crib. Installation Monday between 1:00 and 5:00. Seems I have heard that somewhere before. More channels, DVR and $13.00 less a month. Sure hope I can get a signal. Adios Charter and good riddance.

you will like Dish ... I have the all HD package which includes some non HD channels as well, but if you have a flat panel the picture will blow you away. Sports are great.

I've never heard od " DSL " with cable. I know AT&T offers DSL in some areas. I have had Charter for years and have not experienced the problems you are having. I recently added cable telephone service and it works great. DSL is a high speed service telephone companies offer on land lines, I think.

You are correct. He probably used the term DSL to mean high speed internet. If you really want to get picky, the telephone company provides us paeans (sp?) with ADSL - Asymmetric DSL, since the upload and download speeds are different. Please don't flame me - I realize that bit of information probably belongs in the "nobody really cares" category for today!!

I really like Dish. They are better than average on customer service and the product is very good. The receivers can do some funky things in power outages and surges (being that they are computer like) but a phone call will find good support and it won't take you long to know what to do on your own....usually just a re-boot. Most of their phone techs are very good; if you get a bad one, just excuse yourself and call back; you will never get the person. They also seem to keep good notes on your account so if you ever have a problem (or if somebody promises you something) it should be documented.
