These two paragraphs from an aticle in the Drudge Report summarie how things are going with the new administration.

"President Obama was ill-served by his advisors (shall we thump that checkered piñata, Rahm Emanuel?), who evidently did not help him to produce a strong, focused, coherent bill that he could have explained and defended to the nation before it was set upon by partisan wolves. To defer to the House of Representatives and let the bill be thrown together by cacophonous mob rule made the president seem passive and behind the curve.

Most mainstream American voters are undoubtedly suffering from economist fatigue these days. This one calls for tax cuts; that one condemns them. One says we're wasting hundreds of billions of dollars; the other claims that sum falls pathetically short. A plague on all their houses! Surely common sense would dictate that when Congress is doling out fat dollops of taxpayers' money, due time should be delegated for sober consideration and debate. The administration's coercive rush toward instant action, accompanied by apocalyptic pronouncements of imminent catastrophe, has put its own credibility on the line."

I also heard this AM that Pelosi had just included a windfall tax on 401s, etc. This should make those happy who are thinking about retirement. When will all this crap end?

I am afraid it is just the beginning.

It will only end when we gather up enough sensible voters to overturn the stupid mistakes the current elected officals are making. Remember, the approval ratings of the congress are way below what Bush's were!! Why in the world would we trust them to do the right thing to get us out of this mess? I'm afraid the inexperience and naive approach of our new pres ane rapidly coming to the forefront. The constant the sky is falling, the sky is falling rant to protect his future reputation if things don't get better, is getting really tiresome. What about some leadership? How about things are bad but we can get it turned around if: and then lay out a cohesive plan instead of allowing the congressional bull that was generated. Remember, congress' fingerprints are all over the housing mess by forcing the banking industry to make stupid loans. The banking industry then eventually resorted to shady and expediant ways of laying off these loans through investment tools and products that were over leveraged and risky. As much as I agreed with Bush on energy and national security, his big mistake was not going after congress on this again and again and again and allowing financial oversight to weaken. Many of the same congressional leaders who were involved in helping this mess along are now proposing how to fix it by making the same kind of highly risky borrow, borrow, borrow proposals. Talk about highly leveraged financing!!!
