Let's Recap--
1. The American people elect a black president who at the time he decided to run , had a total of 42 days experience as a U S Senator, from the most politically corrupt state in America , whose governor has since been ousted by means of impeachment from office. Now his replacement in the US Senate is in hot water because allegedly he commited perjury in the hearings leading to his appointment. The President's first official act is to close Gitmo and make sure terrorists' civil rights are not violated.
2. The U.S. Congress rushes to confirm a black Attorney General, Eric Holder, whose law firm we later find out represents seventeen Gitmo Terrorists.
3. The CIA Boss, Leon Panetta with absolutely no experience in the intelligence field , has a daughter, Linda, whom we find out, is a true radical anti-American activist, a supporter of all the Anti-American regimes in the western hemisphere.
4. We, allegedly, got a somehow corrupt female in America as Secretary of State; bought and paid for.
5. We got a Tax Cheat for Treasury Secretary who files his own taxes.
6. A Commerce Secretary nominee who withdrew due to corruption charges.
7. A Tax cheat nominee for Chief Performance Officer who withdrew under charges.
8. A Labor Sec'y nominee who withdrew under charges of unethical conduct.
9. A Sec'y HHS nominee who withdrew under charges of cheating on his taxes. And that's just the first two weeks. . . but who's counting.
This is Change you can now start to believe on !!!! America is being run by the modern-day Three Stooges ~ Barrack, Nancy , and Harry ~ and they are still trying to define stimulus. Stimulus is where the government gives to some of you, but not to all of you , ( because you are rich) a smidgen of your tax dollars back to you making you feel so good about yourself [stimulated] that you want to run out to Wal-Mart and buy a new Chinese-made HDTV and go home and watch Telemundo!

Everything I predicted is coming true although much worse than even I anticipated.

Rush was talking about a revolution of a conservative nature today. Interesting hour of talk radio.

How do you come to these conclusions -- some are factual, some smack of opinion. I've never heard the one about Leon Panetta's daughter and I'm wondering where that information came from.

I wish the Obama Team was doing a better job vetting these people before appointing them; however, I think it says a lot more about the people themselves. I can never undrestand why people who are in public life or aspiring to public life are more scrupulous in their associations and actions.

It's not unheard of Republicans have the same kinds of problems and issues. Problems with Ethics, problems with taxes, etc. Unfortunately, it's not just the Democrats and if I were inclined to do some research (which I'm not) I'm sure I could come up with an equally impressive list of Republican breaches of conduct over the past number of years.

I think we should be more horrified and disgusted that so many people out there being less than good citizens.

And OBTW, the "GITMO Terrorists" are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law -- that's how we roll in this country.

The dems are still in denial. They will not yet admit what a HUGE mistake electing Obama was. For the first time in my adult life I am not proud of my country. I also fear for its survival as a country built of capitalism. Obama and team have no clue ... they come out with a new plan everyday, then when asked a question they say they have not figured out the details. Now they are talking about nationalizing banks ... bad bad bad ... more socialism and look at the stock market reaction. Wall street is mainstreet. Nearly everyone is an investor with IRA's and 401K.

"And OBTW, the "GITMO Terrorists" are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law -- that's how we roll in this country."

They are NOT IN THIS COUNTRY!! They ARE NOT ENTITLED TO OUR BILL OF RIGHTS. THESE PEOPLE WERE TRYING TO KILL OUR SOLDIERS AND CITIZENS. YOU AND ALL THE OTHER LIEBERALS MAKE MY BLOOD BOIL WITH THIS TALK. YOU LIKE THEM SO MUCH, ADOPT A FEW AND MOVE THEM IN WITH YOU.

I wonder if WW and MM still think you are starting to see the light. Funny how the messiah is spending a trillion dollars on social engineering but cutting the millitary by 10%. It is tresonous.

If I didn't post something that Swimmer has to dispute IN ALL CAPS. In my experience, those who can't debate with facts, try to intimidate by yelling.

I don't care what country they're from, you can't hold them indefinitely without some kind of justice. Or maybe you'd just like to kill them all and let God sort them out.

Actually, a number of experts are now saying that nationalizing the banks may be inevitable. It's not a good sign.
Just read a bunch of articles today that said that things are going to get much worse. I'm reading that the market could go another 10-20% below where it is now. `

I still don't know if electing Obama was a HUGE mistake. I hear Republicans criticizing but beyond yelling "tax cuts" I don't hear much else in the way of an alternative plan. And quite a few experts seem to think that massive tax cuts will not work this time -- of course the thing about "experts" is that they disagree in equal numbers. I'm not convinced that either side has a viable plan. They are treating it like it is some kind of huge popularity contest and I'm afraid it is much more dire than that.

I think when this ends, we'll be looking at a much different country and economy than we've had in our lifetimes.

Tax cuts have worked everytime they have been tried. Socialism has failed everytime it has been tried. By all means, lets try socialism.

Even Putin, on Feb 4 warned obama about the direction he was going.

Why don't we just leave the economy alone and let it settle in to where it really should be?

Over a period of years we moved from a manufacturing economy to a service economy - and thus began building a house of cards that is now crumbling before our eyes. What value does a nail salon add to our economic strength? A title pawn business? As far as that goes, a restaurant? Other than feeding the title pawn business because of too many times eating out and too many visits to the nail salon, nothing.

What ever happened to the concept of taking raw materials, adding labor, and producing something of more value than the materials and labor cost to produce it? Oh, excuse me, we let it all go to China - and yet we can't seem to resist the urge to shop at Harbor Freight because their tools are so much cheaper (and, while we spend less for those tools, more of our wealth thus goes out of the US to China).

What we are in the middle of is a national wake up call. We have become too soft, too danm complacent, and too demanding. Gotta get back to the basics.

Hound, other than the necessary infrastructure spending (police, fire, schools, roads), the Government needs to get the he!! out of our way and let us sink or swim on our own. Bush might (although I remain unconvinced) have gotten us into this mess, but Obama and his sleazebags in Congress are making it ten times worse. It sure looks to me like all they are doing is shoring up their Democratic voter base so they can stay in power. I don't think they care one whit about the well-being of America. How in the world does sending money to the National Endowment for the Arts stimulate the economy???

Just bought an AR-15. Have never had a desire to own an assault weapon, and still don't, but the way things are going I fear that I might need one to defend what little I have. One might think that the predictions of hyperinflation, anarchy, and revolution are too severe, and by God I hope they are. But if they are unfortunately accurate, I, for one, plan to be prepared.

Congrats on the new purchase, I think you will really enjoy it – but it is NOT an “assault weapon”. An AR is simply a cosmetic replica of an assault weapon, as they operate only as a semi auto (no matter how long you hold the trigger back – you still get only one round downrange). In your military service, you would have used the rifle with a third position on the safety – marked “Full” or “Burst” – that is an assault rifle. I bought my first AR just after Clinton tried to ban them, and they are very accurate, lightweight, and have very light recoil. The day I bought that one, my wife and I went shooting – I was allowed to function test with 3 rounds, my wife cleared that magazine and the remaining two.
Everyone should be prepared, and everyone should take responsibility (that word again) for their own well-being. We keep nonperishable food and potable water for emergencies, a firearm is certainly a like provision – be sure to keep something to feed it as well. For those who feel that the law enforcement personnel are going to keep you safe – try this – figure out what the average police response time is in your area, get a stopwatch and lie in bed. Close your eyes, imagine someone just breached your front door and start the watch. Open your eyes. Now pretend that the police gave been called and count down the time before the first responder arrives. While you are waiting, think of all the fun things that you, your family and your new best friends will be doing together.
Bush moved us closer to Socialism the last quarter of 2008 than I thought I would see in my lifetime, and yes, the Obamanation has fast tracked that direction. Get your emergency supplies while you can; Obama, Pelosi, Holder, Schumer and the gang intend to stop that portion of our economy. If you are too late – no problem, just remember “we are from the Government, and we are here to help you”.

I have to agree with you on all points.

And I have been considering making a similar purchase. Scary to think it may come to that, but when things get bad desperate people do desperate things.

In the pure sense of the word you are right, but I got the following from Wikipedia:

Quote:

Primarily limited to the United States, the term assault weapon is a political term, separate from the military definition, used to describe a variety of semi-automatic firearms that have certain features associated with military or police firearms, which are optimized for combat situations against human targets. The 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban, which expired on September 13, 2004, defined the rifle type of assault weapon as a semiautomatic firearm with the ability to accept a detachable magazine, and two or more of the following:

* Folding or telescoping stock
* Conspicuous pistol grip
* Bayonet mount
* Flash suppressor, or threaded barrel designed to accommodate one
* Grenade launcher
* Barrel shroud

end quote

I guess they key phrase is "optimized for combat situations against human targets". That descries my new weapon to a T. I don't hunt, and this particular rifle is not optimized for hunting. God help us if we ever get to the point that such weapons are required to protect life and limb.

I know several weapon freaks who own multiple weapons and hoard thousands of rounds of ammunition, but I am not one. My home is not an arsenal, but it is equipped for defense. Maybe the AR-15 would be better described as an estate defense weapon - to be used only in extreme situations. Should the perimeter defense fail and the suckers get into the house the AR is going to be ditched and the Glock will be the defense weapon of choice.

A person needs to learn to use the weapon, be comfortable with it, and fire it on occasion to ensure it will work if ever needed. In fact, in my opinion every adult in the house needs to know how to use the chosen defense weapon(s).

As to the light-speed travel down the road to Socialism, I am truly frightened. What if those three senators are, in fact, closet liberals? Really frightening thought.

Peace

Agreed – the Wiki “assault weapon” is the political term, which like “Saturday night special” (the political definition, not the song) can mean just about anything. The original definition would have left out far too many weapons, such as those that chamber a rifle cartridge- ie 7.62 x 51 (308 Winchester) vs. 5.56 x 45 (almost 223 Remington).
As far as the rifle described, when chambered in 5.56, it is very enjoyable to shoot – and as yourself, I do not hunt unless you call shooting paper and those ever-present deadly cans hunting. The accuracy of these rifles when setup properly and with the right ammunition is as good as most bolt guns out there, and they are commonly used for hunting prairie dogs. As far as home defense – I prefer a 45 ACP, either a 1911 or S&W M&P (same type action as Glock), and my boss prefers a 12 ga. Pump. There are those who argue that an AR with 55 grain 5.56 is preferable, but for “House Clearing 501” I prefer to give the baddies as little to grab and torque as possible. I truly hope that we never have to put our skills to the test, but you know the old saying that “The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.”
