The Cat comes through again!! After buying my place on Lake Martin in 2002, I have dry stored both my bow rider and pontoon with one of the local marina's during the winter months. Along with that, both winterizing and summerizing both boats were part of my regular expenses. Let's just say that trust was a given, concerning whatever the boats needed. Last June the Mercury outboard on the pontoon suddenly starting running like it had fouled two plugs, so I limped into my trusted marina and got a ride to the cabin from there. Three weeks later, I was informed I had a blown piston and it would cost more to repair than it was worth. BUT COINCIDENTALY they just happened to have a practically new Johnson available for around $6000.00 plus another $1000.00 to swap the controls and I'd be back on the water. Considering my 10 year old pontoon is probably worth about 5 grand, I politely declined. After several months of searching for a good used motor or even an older boat with a good motor to take off, I called Steve from Cathouse Marine and explained my situation. He and his son came up, spent about 30 minutes doing a couple of diagnostic tests and informed me all I needed was a carb rebuild. I was fully prepared to bite off the cost of a power head replacement or even the expense of changing motors, so to have that good news delivered was both a testament to the Cat's integrity and expertise and re-enforces the old "get at least two quotes for the job" that my daddy always preached. Cat, it was my pleasure meeting both you and young Steve and I am now what is known as another satisfied customer.

LakeDawg.....tell what marina you're talking about. If they were going to put a screwing on you, I think you should let the rest of us know so we can beware of the type of business they are and we won't get screwed. CAT, you are the best!!!!!

You may be right about alerting everyone, but, and I suspect Cat would agree..........the owner may or maynot know about this episode......andhe/she deserves to hear from the customer. If the owner was a part of this.........then let us know........please.

A dawg admitting to a CAT saving his rear end!! How embarrassing for dogs everywhere....lol. A moniker change may be in order for you.

I would just about bet that I know who the other "marina" was. There are limited number who do 'house calls'......

Sorry you had problems LakeDawg but glad you got a true diagnostic befroe biting the bullet. But on the up side, it was a chance for the CAT man to stop by and say hello.

Good to see you and Jr. CAT. I will see you at the CATHOUSE soon!!.
