Even after all these years, it's still a pretty good planet!

I remember the first Earth Day - I was in HS and we had a ceremony to plant a tree.

On Earth Day, today, I'm thinking about how much I hate the way they timber parcels of land here (especially around the lake) and then don't replant. It's the worst kind of greed. Not only does it look unsightly, but it makes no sense for the future.

Are you sure they don't replant? I've heard that the forest service recommends that you wait one to two years before replanting a clearcut area. I know my grandfather owned a lot of land in north GA and when he would have his timber cut, he would wait at least two years before he replanted with pines.

I see a lot of property around here that appears to have been cut, but not replanted. Didn't realize that you are supposed to wait a couple of years. I hope that is the case.

Didn't realize it. I am in Portland, Oregon today. I wonder what these wackos out here are going to do.....I may not get to the shipyard because of all the protests.....ah, life in America......

Yup, you're on the buckle of the "greenbelt". Good luck!

I will enjoy the yard when I am released from the concrete and steel this afternoon, but if you would please raise a toast to our lake for me Hound.
