Killed one yesterday on Parson Hills Road. About 5' long, tamed with 'The Judge' (Tarus 4410), .410 load, 000 buck @ 10 feet. Not sure how to post a picture, but I've got one.

... I do not like Rattlesnakes either, and if they are out in the woods, I just leave 'em be. But methinks that using that kind of firepower on the critter is akin to using a cannon in a fly. A .22 would have worked.

May seem like over-kill but dead is dead. Actualy, the .410 could be a much safer gun to use in a lot of situations. You will not have to worry about ricochets like you might with a rifle/pistol round.

You could have used a bomb to kill it. There is no such thing as to much dead for a snake. If you cut me in half I live for maybe 20 seconds. Cut a snake in half it lives for like a week. Whats the deal..Do they just like to die or what. I hate snakes!!

About 2 months ago I killed a cottonmouth in my laudry room. I'll try to get a picture up sometime. I used a machete to kill it. My friend said "Did you break any tile?" I looked at him and said "Well hell, of course I broke some tile!". It's one of the nicer parts of the house. If any of you know my wife, don't tell here this story, she wasn't there and I'll get real lonely if she hears it.

Now lets see - What weapon would be overkill on this one? LOL

I saw a lot of big snakes in the jungles of Nam but nothing like this.

In the last couple of years I have seen three moccasins around our place, the last time I saw any of them they were DEAD as will every one I see, that is if I can get to the ole Crossman multi pump pellet rifle before they get out of sight. My wife is deathly afraid of them. We had an experience once when we were swimming out front of the dock, we had a couple of friends ride up on wave runners, I looked at the back of one of them after they had been there maybe five minutes and there was one on the back area of his wave runner at the pump nozzle, it had a fish in it’s mouth and as my buddy looked over at it the little chit started swimming to shore, the problem was we (the wife, myself and my grandson) were between it and the shore. We made it to the dock and I was the last one out, had it not been for my two friends using there jet pump thrust to move the snake away I would have had to catch the little chit before he got to the wife and grandson, true story, that I hope never happens again

The Judge rides shotgun (pardon the pun) in my truck with me. No time to go find other fire power. My mother walks up and down this road every day and it would have been rather awkward for her to walk up on something like that. Would love to share the pic with the forum. Any idea how to post it?

To post a photo do the following:
1) Click on "View Your Account Information" at the top right
2) Then select "Upload Gallery Photos"
3) I will watch for it and assign it to a snake gallery
4) I will attached the photo to your post so it is accesible to the forum.

Note that you will soon be able to comment on photos from the gallery. One of several features I've started but not finished.

Thanks

You can find your photo in a Lake Martin Snakes gallery, or more easily in your prior posts in this thread.

JustAGuy also posted some photos.

I like this feature so much, I need to get my butt into gear and finish it.

I'm not sure if the misspelled word is supposed to be snake or skank.
