IOC knows an idiot when he comes begging. Chicago came in fourth, and last, in voting. Go idiot, show your stuff.

The Olympics would have been a big help overall with the Chicago economy. Just think of all of the money that would have gone from visitors to the streets, the stolen money would have been an infusion of cash for the porn and drug sellers. I hear that instead of using skis and a .22 rifle, they had come up with a Chicago Biathlon involving an Impala and an AK. The high jump had a barbed wire fence instead of that sissy looking pole, and weight lifting featured big screen TV's.

all the bashing and apologizing for the US that Obama has done on his world tours had an impact on the IOC not to want the Olympics in the US.

This shows the level of respect and pull Obama has to influence around the world.

At least Michelle got another vacation and date ... we all know how hard she works dishing out food at homless kitchens in her $800 sneakers.

While Obama was off making no impact, wasting more tax payers dollars he was further ignoring the needs domestically.

How did Obama's trip benefit the US or tax payers. Two 747 had to fly there, along with all the other garbage. He could have sent a staff person and still would have gotten last place. Now he makes the big trip, spends tons of money and loses face by coming in last.

Gee I bet he is a hero in ChiTown.

I mean Secret Service - I believe that before a Prez goes anywhere, the "hop team" has to verify locations/routes/lodging and such. This is NOT a one man gig either. Just view it as another part of the stimulus package.

I have to admit I thought this one was in the bag. Apparently he has been full court pressing this for months. He has done half a dozen videos, has an Olympics office in the White House, he lobbied heavily during the UN meeting and the G20. It boggles my mind that he would risk so much political capital, credibility, etc. with the trip to Copenhagen without being sure it was a done deal. This guy is truly clueless and it is scary to think he has the keys to the kingdom. He did manage to squeeze in 25 minutes with McChrystal while he was there. Can you imagine having the guy fly hours for a 25 minute meeting? Hopeless and change for the worse........

Oh wait a second, I am sure he and the government media will blame Bush.

He should have sent Carter over there,,,,Chicago would have come out tenth, instead of forth.

Well he did get to take Oprah on the trip ... she is still a big supporter and gave her a ride on AF1

Of the past 18 Olympics, the USA has held 4 of them which is more than any other country. The ONLY continent that has never held one is South America. They deserve the opportunity.

The arrogance of him was revealed in the photo taken of he and the General on AF1. They both were sitting with Ozero in a forward posture as if lecturing the General as he sat back with his hands folded and mouth shut. Shouldn't it have been the other way around?

The President outranks the General-- and the tradition in the the military is when the boss is talking, you listen up. I don't know if you saw the article, but one I read today said that Petraeous has reminded the press that HE makes the decision about whether they go forward with the recommendation for more troop. In the military, there IS a chain of command.

Y'all draw such funny conclusion from pictures. It's just a snapshot in time.

Don't you truly love to see GF and Hound try to defend this idiot. Not sure he will wind up to be quite the loser that Carter was, but he's well on his way, and earlier.

anything. It's just the way it is. When someone senior to you talks to you, you sit back and listen. Do you think he's going to argue with the President? Not likely.

I saw a photo where they were both leaning towards each other. They had a conversation. So what?

My only point is there isn't anything to be learned by looking at a photo.

Roland Martin says conservative critics are wrong to chortle at the defeat of the Chicago Olympic bid.

(CNN) -- Whenever President Obama has traveled overseas and offered pointed and direct assessments of the United States, some of them critical, Republicans have ripped him for criticizing America, saying a president should always defend the United States.

So I want to hear the explanation by these so-called patriots of their giddy behavior over the United States losing the 2016 Olympic Games.

Yes, the United States. The bid that was rejected Friday by the International Olympic Committee was not a Chicago, Illinois, bid. It was the official bid submitted by the United States Olympic Committee and was representative of the nation. Tokyo's bid was that of Japan; Madrid's was that of Spain; and Rio de Janeiro's was that of Brazil.

Republicans want to spin the decision as a massive loss by President Obama and the Democrats who have always controlled Chicago politics.

"Hahahahaha," wrote Erick Erickson on the conservative "RedState" blog, "I thought the world would love us more now that Bush was gone."

What the critics don't see is that Obama's loss on the Olympics is America's loss. Any red-blooded American who loves to see the American flag raised and the national anthem played when one of our own wins a gold medal should blast the Republicans' giddiness over the loss.

I can recall crying along with millions of Americans when our hockey team beat the Russians and won the hockey gold in 1980. Where were those games? Lake Placid, New York. Euphoria spread all across the nation, not only because we beat the mighty Russians, but also because it took place on American soil.

When Carl Lewis and Mary Lou Retton dominated the 1984 Olympic Games, we all beamed with pride because they represented the United States on American soil in Los Angeles, California.
And when Michael Johnson stormed around the track to obliterate the world record in the 200-meter dash (since broken by Jamaica's Usain Bolt), we relished the win as he took a victory lap around the stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.

Americans love home field advantage, and we always desire to show the rest of the world what we are made of.

I don't care if Republicans want to rip President Obama over going to Copenhagen, Denmark, to pitch for the games. This isn't about politics. It's not about ideology. This is about America. OUR pride. Our chance to shine. Our loss of the games.

So, to all the critics happy about us losing the 2016 games, turn in your flag lapel pins and stop boasting of being so patriotic. When an American city loses, like New York did in the the last go-round, we all lose. And all you critics are on the same level as the America haters all across the world.

You should be shouted down for not backing your own country. The next time any of you bang out a press release about "Buy American" or "Support our troops," remember this moment when your cynical, callous and small-minded brains happily rejoiced when America lost the 2016 Olympic Games.

For the last 8 years we have listened to the Democrat party, the government media and left-leaning independents cheer every piece of bad news for America, every death in Iraq and Afghanistan, every lost job, every drop in the value of the dollar and on and on. And yet at the same time we were shrilly told by Hillary herself, "I'm sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and disagree with this administration, somehow you're not patriotic. We need to stand up and say we're Americans, and we have the right to debate and disagree with any administration." As for me, I have to turn the radio off every time I hear her screeching this quote but alas she said it.

Now suddenly it is unpatriotic to jeer the Messiah's failed attempt to bring the Olympics to Chicago? Oh ye of less than subtle hypocrisy....

I and many others do not cheer that Chicago was not awarded the Olympics but we did jeer the Obama's and Oprah, especially after reading their narcissistic, me, me, me, I, I, I speeches. Somehow they need to get the message that this is not all about them and their compelling life stories (even when they make it up like Michelle did) and it won't sell outside of the U.S. or inside the U.S. with many of us.
