Subject:   Chuck's Marina - My experience
Date:   5/26/2004 12:28:38 AM

Several years ago I bought my first boat (24 foot poontoon) I studied up on all the boating laws and felt comfortable with that part. A friend gave me some maintence instructions and I decided to leave the boat at Chucks in a wet slip. Made the deal with Greg and brought my boat up for the first time. Went out on the lake (with a map and a depth finder) and had a great day. Came back in and tied up in my spot and went home. Came back the next day and as I was heading for the boat, Greg called me over and told me he needed to talk to me. He took me over to the boat and showed me how he had retied the boat to the pier. He said that just looping a rope over a pole would be the best way to destroy the boat. I thought that tieing up mean one rope so the boat did not float off. He had seen how my boat was tied up by me after I left and corrected my mistakes. He took the time to instruct me on the correct way of tieing up a boat. I thought I was ready for the lake but still had a lot to learn. Sorry for the long post but I just wanted to say that.

We, too, cannot say enough good things about the person Greg is and the business he runs at Chuck's! Greg has also walked us through novice boaing experience. He does it so nicely and never makes you feel like a "dumb dumb" for not knowing something :) His marina may not have all of the bells and whistles of some of the other newer and shiny ones on the lake but he's definately earned our trust, respect, and business!!! He even takes time with our children and we consider him a friend. The difference in Chuck's and some other marinas is Greg lives there and works there (very hard may I add) each and every day!!!!!!

So, head over to Chuck's, gas up the boat, eat some of that yummy pizza and have a "cool one" and say hi to Greg while your at it !! Have a great lake day!!!

Was also wondering what the point was. I see Greg all the time at Chuck's and he is almost always working. He has done numerous favors for me ; almost to the point I feel guilty not frequenting his marina more. Super nice guy.

Of course I've got an answer!!

I was here before he was. When he moved in...I sent the guy to him that bought his first boat, rented his first cabin..for 5 years!! Ran TV and telephone cable for him, shopped for him...the list goes on and on.

He wants your loyalty!!

Be a sucker if you want to...I'm through. I did FAR too much for the guy!

Escpecially now that I see what the payback is.

You know, most anyone will show you how to tie a rope....just ask them. The lake people are cool people for the most part....just give them a shot!

That is what LakeBum was referring to....or correct me if I'm wrong LakeBum.

Stratman.....
