WELL ACCORDING TO APC WEB SITE THE STORM CAUSED THE
LARGEST POWER OUTAGE IN APC HISTORY. ALMOST DOUBLE OF OPAL. AND AS OF SUNDAY AFTERNOON THEY WAS A LITTLE OVER 200K STILL WITHOUT POWER. SO AROUND 600K HAVE BEEN RESTORED IN 3 DAYS. I WOULD THINK THE MEN AND WOMEN AF APC DESERVES A ROUND OF APPLAUSE. ANY ONE AGREE?

I totally agree, Alabama Power and its employees are some of the most respectable people I have ever meet. Thank you very much for your swift service.

Coming back home today from the lake, I observed three or four Georgia Power caravans of 5-6 trucks apiece assisting as well. The ability of these various state power companies to leave and help at a moments notice is truly a reflection of the caring American spirit.

The team that restored the power to our area today was from Mt Airy, N.C. They were down here helping backup Alabama Power crews who are still down helping out Florida Power with Frances and Charlie damage in Florida. Guess where Ivan hit after AL? Yep, North Carolina! Their 'moveup' system really works. APCO announced on Wednesday, before Ivan even hit, that teams were already enroute from Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Illinois - BEFORE THE STORM HIT. These obviously are not all Southern Company people.

All I can say is WOW! If you see one of those crews along the side of the road, how bout a real big shout "WE THNAK YOU!"!

Yes, thank you to all of you "power folks" wherever you are from. You are all hard workers and we appreciate you. We need to get a bumper sticker made which reads.... "HAVE YOU HUGGED YOUR LINEMAN TODAY! :) "

The Rah Rah's for Alabama Power depends largely on one's perspective. I would bet that every one of the hand-clappers have power. Probably no responses from those who have been off since Thursday and all of their supplies in their freezer have ruined. Just a thought.

You mean the "it's all about me" crowd?

These workers are going strong around the clock....doing their best. I find it amazing that they can get things back to normal as fast as they do. Yes, I have power this time, but have gone 10 days without after a previous storm. It's not fun, but I still appreciate the massive effort it took to get power back; then and now!

I too would commend all the men/women from ALL the power companies who together are trying to get everyone's power back on line. I just got back from Brewton....helping my parent's try to dig through the rubble of pine trees that destroyed the personal property of countless, and took took miles of power lines in the process. My parents are still without power, and were told not to expect it for a couple of weeks. With millions of power consumers affected by this, any reasonable person should understand that everyone can't be "first"....like there's one switch that turns on the power for every household at the same time.....be real. I felt extremely fortunate that my Bham power never went out, and that my lake power was returned in fairly short order.....and after seeing the destruction in Brewton, I almost felt guilty.

THANKS POWER COMPANIES!!!!!!
