I have been lurking on this forum for some time and enjoy reading everyone's posts. I finally decided to sign up. I was wondering if anyone knew about how much it costs around the local marinas to dry store your boat?

Don't recall exactly but, I think Blue Creek is around $1500 per year for dry stacking.

Most, if not all, of the storage marinas on the lake now charge by the length of your boat and the length of your storage commitment. (i.e. month-to-month will be the most expensive, annual storage will be much less per month). Prepay your storage and expect a discount.

Most folks tend to store their boat at the facility most convenient for them. You may wish to do your homework, though, as there are tremendous differences in price and levels of service. Higher cost does not necessarily translate to better service. Ask for customer references of those with similar kind/size of boat and amount of use.

That's right, depending on the size of your boat, and what size unit you will need (a wakeboard tower will need a taller unit), will depend on the cost. Real Island quoted us $130 per month for a 4 month rental. We also got a price last summer ( from Kowaliga Marina) that was in this same price range and they would have your boat gassed up for you when you called (if you wanted) to have your boat brought down.
Real Island didn't offer this, but they might do the same if you asked.
Have you ever watched anyone put a boat in the water from a dry dock? Do yourself a favor and close your eyes! :)

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate your responses. I was thinking about getting a pontoon boat and I don't have a vehicle to pull it with. Plus, I don't think I can load it and unload it on a boat ramp. I rented a boat at Kowaliga over the weekend and saw them bring boats out of dry storage, set them in the lake, gas them up, and have them ready to go. Now, that's my cup of tea. I was just wondering if I would be able to afford storage.

Bamabelle, be sure to check with Anchor Bay. Don (anchorbaydon) would never abuse his forum privilidges by directly soliciting business through the forum. It has been years since I used dry storage, but it is worth the money in a case like yours. I am sure all of the marinas will cost about the same, the difference will be the level of service, and I feel certain that Achor Bay will beat all in that area. But as Don pointed out, location is usually the biggiest factor in deciding which marina to use. Personally, I would drive the difference between Kowliga and Anchor Bay just to give my business to Don. And no, I am not related to Don, in fact don't even know him other than stopping in 1-2 times a year for gas. I live on the other side from him, but if I buy gas on that side of the lake it is from them.
