New restaurant in Alex City by Russell Do It Center. We stopped on our way out of town last night.

Service - Excellent (But not overly crowded at 8:00pm on Sat night)

Prices - A little high

Appetizers:
Clam Chowder Soup- Good, large portion $3.99
Fried Oysters Appetizers - Good not on menu, but they prepared this appetizer for us, do not remember the cost but think around $8.99)

Entree:
Dinner Salad - Very good, but had to order separately at $3.99 as I ordered the fried shrimp and could not change side dishes (see comments below)
Fired Shrimp $12.99 - 6 med size shrimp lightly breaded very nicely done and not greasy at all. But could not choose from other entree sides such as baked potato, dinner salad, wild rice, mixed vegetables. So was stuck with the fried shrimp sides which where french fries and fried onion pedals. Fries were fries, but onion pedals had way too much breading could not even taste the onions, plus very greasy.
Crab Cakes Entree $19.99 - Good size portion, but overly doughy, wild rice was good and baked potato was a baked potato.
Dinner Cheese Biscuits were lacking in flavor and dry.

Total bill including one martini, before gratuity was $60.00. Yes they have a full bar, beer and wine.

Overall - Service was good, prices a little high and food so so. They have only been open about 2 weeks, but do not know if I will give them another try or not.

I ate there last week. I did not know at the time who the owner was, but once my order was placed the owner, John Spain, came over and spoke to us. John has a long history in the grocery business with expertise in meats. I highly reccomend the steaks. All aged black angus beef.

Had lunch Fri. My husband ordered Chicken Parme John - $7.99 and I ordered Steak (and I mean steak) sandwich - $7.99. Someone in the kitchen over seasoned the chicken and it was so spicy, they were not serving it to guests. Mr Spain asked for a second choice. My husband chose Fettuccini Alfredo. Iced tea - $1.99 - too high priced - we had water with lemon. Alfredo was good. My steak sandwich was cooked well done and was very chewy and with the roll was dry. I was not offered any kind of steak sauce (I know, I could ask for some). No sides came with either of our meals. We noticed other tables had what looked like bread baskets, so I asked if bread/rolls came with the meal. Our waitress said no. I asked if we had to ask for them and again, she said no - they serve them to "people who look like they are hungry"!!. Huh??? I came to the restaurant to eat, but did not look hungry? She did bring us the biscuits - warm, but nothing to rave about.

When Mr Spain introduced himself, we mentioned the price of iced tea and he said they use brand name tea and he would be glad for us to try it on the house, which was fine, but we will not pay $1.99 for tea.

Asked about drink prices - beer $2.50-3.00 (he thought), $5.50 for bar drinks and $6.50 for call brands. He didn't give us wine prices. He said one reason they have the drink prices high is to keep the people out who want to come in later in the evening and just drink! Don't know if I can negotiate drink prices here like I did at Frankie's, but it will be a little while before we go back. I like a drink before dinner, but will not pay $5.50.

Hope he makes it. Restaurant just needs some fine tuning and I think it will be a good place to eat. Getting tired of Mexican and fried foods!
