I have been reading the Forum for a few months now, and have been generally amused by the banter. However, for the past month or so the sparring has turned to full contact boxing, and is, in general, uncomplimentary to the authors.
So, I have a simple question: How can we ever expect or even hope for world peace, when a simple forum intended for information sharing can exorcise such behavior and venom?
Disagreement is one thing. It is a part of our first amendment right to free speech. What I've observed is personalization of disagreement to the point of name calling and finger pointing. Quite frankly, it's distasteful, and a poor representation of the wonderful people of the Lake Martin area..
The forum is a wonderful way to share a common interest. Lake levels, celebration of an afternoon thunderstorm, where to go for the best price or service needed, great concerts, etc. I, for one, have NO interest in who hates whom, or who can't make a comment without being attacked.
As a "founding member of the silent majority" , this kind of post is unusual for me. I'm sure the attacks on me (none of you know me) and excuses for the behavior will begin..."You don't understand"..."they started it"....."if you don't like it, don't read it".. I don't care. It's amazing that GROWN ADULTS BEHAVE THIS WAY.
It appears some didn't listen to their mothers or their church: "Do unto others..." "Sticks and stones" ..."live and let live"...."turn the other cheek".
Grow up.

You might have noticed that an extremely high percentage of the 'socially unacceptable' posts have originated from one poster. A couple of months ago several of us just decided to ignore this poster and see what happens. As expected, he shortly reverted to his old ways, that you saw today.. If all posters just ignored him he would go away.

And once again, I was the one that was attacked. I will say this again, i don't start the war or words, i just win it. I have been postin here longer than most of you combined, and personlly, I like it when you and yours ignor me. It is your loss not mine. Remember, every time you point a finger at me, there are three pointing back at you. Those that matter know now about your gangs little trick this morning. If you think you matter to me, you are SADLY mistaken. When I wake up on a Monday morning to that kind or attack on me and more importantly that brave young sodier, I may fgo off kilter again. Now, do you really think that Bruce enjoyed wasting his whole day because of you guys little stunt?
You might as well realize, only death, mine or the boards, willl stop me from posting. Who do you think Bruce is most upset with, me, or the perps? I have also dissemenated more of the exchange of ideas, etc. that TN talked of than you and yours will ever even KNOW, much less share. So how is you shunning campaign working for you? I personally like it cuz it keeps your diatribe off the board. Have you not notice that I kill lots of threads with simple post? You don't think that is by design? You guys are the ones suffering, not me.
I will share my emails from Bruce anytime you guys want to see them. After a decade or so, we understand each other.
Keep shunning, works for me.

It takes a much bigger man to admit his mistakes, apologize and move on than it does to ignore those same apologies and continue a conspiracy, of taunts, lies and deceits, interspersed with personal attacks to try to provoke a 'socially unacceptable' post from someone and denigrate a fine young man that puts his life on the line EVERYDAY for your right to do so.
Grow up, find a life, cuz you obviously don't have one so you come here to live yours vicariously through me.
I have done my last Mae cuppa, have you done your first? I won't be sorry for what or who I am. You guys were exposed for who and what you are today. Not only to me, but the HOBO's as well. Did you think, that including them would make it better for you. BAD CALL!!
And BTW-- 'socially unacceptable' as defined by whom? Lakeman complained and had a joke I posted removed because it offended his social sensibilities. Since then, much more 'socially unacceptable' jokes have been posted, responded too, and continued without a peep. Once again exposing the hypocrisy of your 'gang'. And trust me, I am not the only one noticing.

Does TN mean you are in Tennessee? If so, what can you tell me about a Poker/Fun run in the Nashville area. ??? I have heard there is one up there every year, and it has a large turn out. As for the board/forum, it's all just entertainment at best. I have met many of the forum members and they are all generaly good folks.

You may eat any animal that has a split hoof divided into two that chews the cud. However, of those that chew the cud or that have a split hoof completely divided, you may not eat the camel, rabbit or the coney.
I personally have enjoyed the banter. Reality TV in the forum! Keep up your defense LTL, I would do the same when unnecessarily attacked.

Hi Cat,
Yes, I'm in TN, but in the Chattanooga area so not familiar with the Nashville poker run. We get to the lake about every other weekend. It's a 3 + hour drive, but once we get there it's all worth it!!!!!
There were some races on the TN River here last weekend. Very exciting. Lots to do here, so if you want to visit, let me know and I'll get some discount tickets to the attractions for you.
