I won't be a part of any slandering, but I will offer this- most of the people who have been on this board have had some disagreements, and have tried to defend our opinions. The thing is that most of us communicate face to face, we know each other on first name basis- if for any reason, just to have an understanding of who is on the distant end of the keyboard. There are only a couple handles on here that I do not have the slightest clue who they are. I have personally met all but around three, and so have the others. This is not to say we are all greatest of friends, as we often rile each other up, and most often agree to disagree. But we do have a common interest, WATER... Do not worry that we know who you are. BUT, if you manage to permanently tone down your crudeness then you can become accepted and continue to stir the pudding every now and then.

If you are honest about cutting out the crudeness, and just BS'n on here then no one will have beef with you. In fact, we would like to meet you somewhere on the lake to be able to place a face to the alias... Stop by some time and have a beer (water, coke, gatoraide...) with one of us...

It is obvious that its too late to remain anonymous, so if you want to hang around then read your posts before submitting them and think if you would be offended by it if it were someone else's. There is a difference between stating a difference of opinion and being offensive... Life Time Laker often has a differing opinion and the only reason everyone gives him so much craap is because he takes things personal and retaliates. AND he has succeeded to remain most what anonymous forever…

I am a regular reader, infrequent poster to the Forum. I get on to hear what is going on at the lake, keep track of HOBO happenings, etc. Over the last few months this forum has taken a mean and nasty turn to the point that I suggested to the webaster that you should only be able to have one alias with a valid email address and they should monitor and remove abusive posters. Friendly banter is one thing but dominating the forum with long, abusive back and forth rants displaces the kind of interaction and information I enjoy reading.

I have heard over and over that the forum is public. So is the town square but see what happens to you if you go there and start verbally abusing, insulting and threatening people. Even if it were legal it doesn't make it right and it reflects poorly on the individual.

I also hear people say they are only defending themselves and one of the more frequent debaters said never to argue with a fool because it may be hard to tell who is who......and yet they weigh in and argue, insult and threaten. The best response to the supposedly one or two troublemakers is to ignore them. I know their aliases and I don't bother to open anything from them. Unfortunately they displace a lot of good information and discussion.

My suggestion is a 30-day moratorium on responding to abusive posts. I think those who want to defend themselves will be much happier and the others trying to pick a fight will go away......after all, its the reaction they desire. Their not making a point or trying to be constructive.

Morning Pier Pressure. Since this post is apparently directed at me I have a couple of questions. Why is it that my opinions are attacks, but others attacks are opinions? ( I am totally discounting Flathead from this conversation as he is obviously a total whack job.) This 'dust up' started with the thread "Dadeville Mayor at it again". I have read it several times trying to put myself in yalls position. For the life of me, I can't see how ANYBODY could read my posts as attacks, slander, defamation or anything but my OPINION. The first attack comes from lakeman. When it is read in 'View All' mode and put in chronological order it is so apparent as to be laughable that the blame is put on me. I see the WWTP issue from a different angle than most of you. Fine, that is principles. lakeman is the first to bring personalities into it. Do you guys just choose to not see it that way simply because you know who he is? Trust me, there are folks that read and post here daily that know who I am. It is just that I choose NOT to put my personal info out there. There are a lot of crazies in this world. Through the years I have seen several personal, physical threats made on here by one of 'these people you know'. It seems that lakeman can't let bygones be bygones because I told him I would have to think about having a beer with him. I am NOT one to pretend to like someone that I don't like. I hate HYPOCRITES worse than anything.

Now I once again post a challenge. Anyone that can point out in that thread where I made the first attack can make me go away FOREVER. I will personally ask Bruce to delete my account, never to be heard from again. But what you will find is that osms made the first attack stating that I have single handedly ruined this forum, yada yada. Some of you guys give me way to much power and credit.

I hit the wrong key while spell checking and editing and posted twice before having a chance to reread and edit my entire post. I contradicted myself. I meant to say in paragragh one that lakeman made the first REALLY PERSONAL attack. I think he was emboldened by the attack from osms so feeling that he had an ally, took it to a different level.

It is obvious that you do not view your actions and comments as they are viewed by most.

I respect your opinion about the city of Dadeville, even though I disagree with you. I do not respect the manner in which you present many of your opinions. To the average observer, it is a given that you attack more than any regular poster on this forum, period. For some reason, you can't see that and continue to argue that you are attacked first when it is usually a minor comment of disagreement that sets you off (not what most reasonable folks would consider an attack); when that happens, you overreact and come out with guns blazing. If you want people to give more respect to your opinions, you need to be less sensitive and think about how you present them.

This is where adults can agree to disagree, both on the Mayor and the attacks. A quote from osms:

Now tell me how that is NOT an attack on me. That is NOT opinion. And why is it that anyone new that comes here and shows his butt is my 'cohort'. You can not find one post where I have engaged him in any way. I ignore him. The same route many of you should follow.

Perception is reality, therefore, I can see where it may seem to some that I attack more than anyone else. When the attacks start, so does the piling on. So I will have more posts than the others. Simple math. But trace it back to the beginning each time and see where it takes you.

Once again, you guys give me WAY too much credit. Now here is another challenge. We all know who flathead is, lakeman claims to know who I am. I know, and happen to like, the person he thinks I am, but the challenge is to find ANY connections between me, the other fellow, and flathead. Publish it here. Just another challenge that will never be taken up, because it is impossible.

I didn't say you were NEVER attacked and I am not defending the statement by Osms, but I stand by my comments and I think most would agree they are valid. Osms has also overreacted at times and so have many others (including myself). My point is that you are the King of overreaction/ forum attacks and it detracts for any good points that you have to offer. It is also my opinion that many posters make pointed statements directly aimed at you because they get frustrated with the way you conduct yourself. When this happens, you again see it as an attack.... when most view it as an attempt to point out problems with your behavior.

When you work at it, you do very well.... but you have a hard time staying on the wagon.

Obviously something in the past you took personal... In this statement alone you have called one person a Whack job, and another a Hypocrite. Either way you are right, those are only your opinions - BUT- stating opinions in a manner in which you incite someone to physical threats either due to name calling, or your condescending tone I can partially understand why someone may resort to statement they would otherwise not make. (as we have all make those mistakes). But, in the end of the week (or hopefully day), do we carry over those statements and hold them as resentment? You bring up OSMS, which is funny because at one point (from my recollection) last year he and I were at each others throats. I cant even remember why now. That is the nature of how I handle this, we are all people from varying backgrounds and we all have something of value to add to this forum, should we decide to do so. I may feel that something reads less educated, or is written poorly, or I may feel that someone makes a scholarly post either way I keep those thoughts inside and reply only with content (should I feel I have something to add)...

I have nothing against anyone on here and the post was in reply to one of flatheads posts which was deleted, not to you. I only stated that you seem to be the most obvious anonymous user, and I haven't (at least recently) called you out on it. Its your choice.

SO, my observation and opinion stands firm that you take things personally..... ;-)
