Dear Lake Martin Friends, I inquired...several months ago, as to the location of my grandparents cabin. Many fine folks went to the trouble to find its' location for me...only to discover it was long gone and some townhouses built in its' location (Paradise Point). Well, I found some pictures of it and uploaded them to your webmaster who promptly put them in your photo gallery under Lake Martin History. Check them out....Lake Martin has water!!! We had a floating pier and I remember that cookout....much simpler times. I do not know all of the people in the pictures.....maybe one of them is you LifetimeLaker........Thanks for everyones help. Sincerely, Land StClair

Thank you for letting us know about the pictures. Is there a magic trick to find them? I looked at the History section, what topic are they under?

You have to go under Viewer Submitted Pics and there is a folder there named History. Took me a click or two to find them also.

Are you in the picture, Lifetime.......or do you recognize anyone? My brother, Pete and my aunt, Frances Bowen, are in the one of the cookout, but I don't know any of the others in that picture. I'm the little squirt in the water by the pier....you can only see my head. What wonderful memories of Lake Martin.........what freedom. I wish each of you the same.

NOPE, no me in those pics. When was the pic taken? Most likely it was when we camped at Wind Creek every year. I remember when almost all the 'floating peirs' were made of old drums though.

I think these were made in or about 1960. My grandfather built the cabin in 1955. His name was Pete Land....hence my name. Maybe you remember the vehicle we cruised around in...it was a pink jeep with a striped pink top and had fringe all around it. It was a 16th birthday gift for my cousin. Did you notice all of the trees around the area in the picture? I can tell from Google Earth that all of the trees have been cut down now...........what a shame. I sure do wish we still had the old place, so my family could experience Lake Martin. We have a lake here, but it's not Lake Martin.
