I was looking through the history page the other day and saw the story about the man who is trying to lift that B-52 out of the lake. Does anyone know if he is still working on raising it? I would imagine that later this fall and this winter would be his best bet for getting it out. Seeing as how the lake is probably going to be the lowest it has been since he started his recovery operation. I think It would be interesting to go watch if he was planning on lifting the fuselage or the wings anytime soon.

Aren't you confusing this with the flying saucer that fell in the lake in 1951? The one flying out of Roswell, NM?

From what I read last month in one of the Lake magazines he is spending all his time now recovering the heart pine from the lake bottom. One thing is for sure, IF it is ever raised is it going to cause some major silt issues downstream. But they are managing to get the heart pine up without causing major problems. But the B-52 is larger and hollow. I am with you on watching though. I saw a TV special about one that was raised from a lake up north. It came out almost intact and was donated to a flight museum here in Alabama. Dang if I can remeber where though. Selma, Huntsville maybe? Apparently we have an aviation buff or two here, maybe they would know.

As for the UFO, it DID NOT CRASH!! It LANDS and goes to the Alien base they have constructed between Goat Island and the dam.

I think it is a B25 not a B52 either way it would be intresting to see raised.

It was a B-25 Mitchell in the Sandy Creek area. The man's name is Bobby Norwood that was raising the plane. For some reason, the military tore and pulled the plane apart after it was under water/crashed. I saw several pieces of the plane/prop etc in a warehouse in Montgomery. Mr. Norwood did recover the pilots helmet and some personal belongings and gave it to the son of the dead pilot or crew member. He even took the man there to visit the site. It was once thought that the plane was carrying special orders onboard (like top secret, drop the bomb or something) and that is why it was further destroyed after the crash. I think Bobby told me it was in many, many pieces. I believe the above information to be true, that is how it was told to me.

You are right it was a B25. Did you get a chance to check out the avaiation site with the videos? Everytime I go back there I find new stuff to waste time watching.

I read that they were just trying to drag it to shallower water so they attempt to retrieve the bodies. The dragging is what caused it to break apart. I am sure the truth lays at the bottom of the lake too.

As long as nobody is messing with the alien base all is well.

LTL - I believe the B-25 you are referring was recovered from Lake Murray
in Columbia SC and moved to Birmingham for restoration. It was in
good condition, with only one propeller missing.
