One advantage of long term cabin ownershp and buying before the explosion in prices is that if the lake goes away forever, what I paid for my cabin and the cost of improvements was a great deal given all the thousands of happy hours I have had enjoying the lake. If I had to abandon my cabin today, I got a great deal.
I know this does not apply to the thousands who bought more recently. You, of course, can't appreciate this aspect. Just now cherish those hours you have had in recent years.
I, like post below am very, very concerned. Most oldtimers up my way feel sure this is a longer term thing, perhaps another bad water year in 2008. Oldtimers think we may be on a two-three year cycle, or God forbid, more.

Is thier a plan??? If their is is it public knowledge. Such as no water released passed 50 ft draw drown. Water trucks deliver water to cities that need it. I know I sound like the sky is falling, But it has fallin before and it will fall again. Ask New Orleans. What about the timber industy the heck with water for a barge. Can the pine trees take another year like the past?? Fallback re-evaluate the whole picture. If it is a three year drought would we be doing what we are doing now with water???? Washing cars watering lawns 15 minute showers?

I am with you GreyCove. If the water never comes back, my house is still worth what I paid for the place as late as 2000. I am with the oldtimers. I feel we will have a low water year next year too. But I will point out again, that every year a LOT of water passes through in the sping without being held back. Even this year. There were rains that could have raised the lake several more inches with one rain event, but the water was used and sent downstream instead of held. Who knows how the 'powers that be' will treat that same water this year.

I am wondering that myself. If the lake does fall as low as yall say, I would like to go exploring and check things out.

I am with you cat. I would like to go out and check out what the water has exposed for the first time in years.
Might be kinda neat to see whats there.
