I vote we get past the BS and have some real Lake forum posts here, let’s share our best lake memory from Lake Martin.

Mine was the 1st time I came to the lake, a friend got sick of lake cesspool Allatoona and bought a place down here. We were on the lake the Saturday before Labor Day 18 years ago and there was not another boat in site, the lake was glass all over and we skied for hours with it like this, then he wore me out on the tube trying everyway he knew how to throw me off, by the time our wives and kids arrived we were way to tired to go back out on the lake. These days are still around but you have to be there during the week either early or late in the day.

Good thought. My best memory right now is scheduling vacation so that I'll be at the lake for 3 out of 4 weeks starting on May 26th.....let the fun begin!!

Best? No such thing. Started going to LM in '72 - great times; fishing from a 14' aluminum boat w/15 hp motor in '78; music, beer and friends in '80 (drinking age in AL was 19 at that time - 18 in GA); started bringing the future Mrs to the lake in '87; honeymoon in '93; enjoyed a few cold draughts last weekend. Repeat as able.

WAAAYY to many to post here, but you can bet that Sand Island and 'Cove One' aka Nude Beach are in many of them from my adult years. Childhood memories are all Wind Creek, catching my first fish, the trampolines, the silo, hangin on the bridges at night, 'zilchers', and the ever present rope swing (from which I still have scars).

In 1959 taking a trip from Parker Creek to Koliga in a 14ft wooden flatbottom boat with a 7hp engine, Mom,Dad,Brother, and Grandmother. In February 40 degrees, it took half a day to get there and back. Loved it.
Still do...

Hmmm. Go between Sand Island and the mainland, carefule there are very shallow areas. Pass between Big Sandy and the mainland, continue to bear left. Follow the left bank around, watching out for the BFR sticking a little out of the water. All the way back around on the back side there is a sand bar. It has very shallow water and then drops off about 10 feet or so almost straight down. Not sure how much 'nude beach' action it sees these days. There are a couple of other beaches in the back of the slough that have been 'developed' now, but back in the day if someone started in and saw a boat, they would politely turn around and leave. You probably see more skin at the rock on any given Saturday these days...lol.
