Because this forum is constantly evolving, review the rules on the forum home page (link below). All members that are logged in can now flag inappropriate posts.

Members will also know when there is something inappropriate before reading if it has been flagged by another member. This function works only for the classic forum layout.

Thank you for updating these rules. Many of us would enjoy a forum
that is friendly, helpful and educational. This forum had become a
place for personal confrontation and degradation. Hopefully, these
people will use their personal emails for future issues.

Love the rule limiting a user to one alias.

Is "trolling" the same thing as "stirring the puddin'?"

It looks like there'll be a wave of reported posts.....if someoen doesn't agree with the message a "disliked" member puts up, they'll flag it out of spite just to get it removed.....

There should be a backfire clause. If someone uses the flag option in what the webmaster feels is an innapropriate way, then they should have consequences. Maybe have one of those neat little flame icons associated with all their posts.

I agree. Looks like the flag is already being abused..

Are you really surprised? I'm not having seen the behavior of some in the past. The DJ post was flagged, then not, and now is again. And the McKayGMC post flagged? There appears to be a certain element that thinks anything that they don't agree with is 'innapropriate', but that has been the case since I have been reading this blog.

People are playing with the Inappropriate Flag and trying to figure out how it works.

Problem is once you Flag a post you cannot unflag it.

Spoke to Bruce last night about the flags and some thoughts I had as I flagged his post and could not unflag - LOL: So my thoughts were

- Allow the user to unflag if they flagged by mistake
- Only flag once so many mark as such
- Once a post is flagged so many times by diff folks the post is automatically deleted.

Thereby, allowing the forum to mediate itself, similar to Wikipedia and Craigslist.

Some pretty good suggestions but I can see possible problems. This is a mcuh smaller community than Wikipedia or CraigsList and with the 'pack mentallity' that sometimes goes on here it could very easily be abused. Hopefully it wouldn't be, but didn't most everyone have high hopes for the ignore function? Was it not supposed to cure all the ills of the forum?

The ignore function didn't really address the problem. Many readers like to see everything that is on the board, but some of it does not belong here and should be removed. Hopefully these new ideas will help.

How about you make it more clear what evil words, like m o r o n and i d i o t, will redirect your post attempt to the FBI site. That is just foolish and confusing without a heads up in the rules.

How does this feature work-- "Members will also know when there is something inappropriate before reading if it has been flagged by another member. This function works only for the classic forum layout."

I agree with Aqua Nut.
