For the forum rules item about referrals... Actually it is not explained clearly enough so it is easily misinterpreted. I can see why. Affiliate and Referral links are really about someone posting links to other web sites for which the person is compensated for the click or purchase. For example, say someone has an affiliate account at Amazon.com. Then that person could post a link similar to the following:
http://www.amazon.com/Product.html?Item=12345&AffilateID=1234
That Affiliate ID in the last part of the URL will qualify that affiliate with the sale of the item if someone were to buy it. So they make 2% or whatever of the sale... It could just as easy be called a referral link. That is what Affiliate and Referral links really mean in the rules. I'm updating the rules accordingly but this is somewhat difficult to explain without being wordy.
I have no problem at all with service recommendations. Actually, I think some businesses being referred may find it beneficial to advertise on the site where they can be easily found in a business category or search.

Thanks for putting out this clarification. That is exactly how most of us intrepreted the rules. Most reasonable people understood the intent of the rule. One of the most useful aspects of this forum is to get respectful opinions from others. Things like...did it rain over there?...where is the eagles nest? ...who are good tree surgeons?......who is a good plumber?....and yes, who is a good electrician. Can't all the children who want to come here and argue.....and show the lack of upbringing they had....just go away?
