Saturday we were fishing on the dock and our dog was extremely ajitated the entire time. She kept sniffing, barking and acting skittish. Normally she finds a sunny spot, lays down and goes to sleep.
When I finally looked under the dock, a beaver (I think) was staring back at me.

What exacty do I need to be worrying about now? This guy was hanging around under there for several hours, is he trying to build a den? Is he going to climb up an dstart eating my decking? lol

Anyone else had beaver problems? I know thats an open ended question.

BEAVERS! They invaded us on Crooked Creek this summer and have wreaked havoc with my trees. Every Maple and Birch has been girded, which means the trees will die. For the un-initiated, girded means the bark has been stripped all the way around the tree to a height of about three feet. This is the first time we've experienced beavers in this area. We have searched the banks for a lodge, but have been unable to find one. When it is suggested we set a trap, I ask, Where? Now that the water level is down, we'll not see them until it rises again. For now, I have to cut about 8-10 trees, which I am not happy about. When I asked the long timers what to do about beavers, I was told to either kill the beaver or move. I've found both options to be impossible.

Sorry about your beaver! One thing too that a lot of people don't think about is, they will eat the floatation on your boat dock. We have changed out MANY boat dock encapsulated floats because of beavers eating it for the past two years. Good luck. We have seen some people that have put chicken wire around their floats and that has helped some but not all. Sorry I don't have any advice on saving the trees. Not sure what to do. Good luck!!
