I caught a Speckled Trout in Yates Lake (below Lake Martin) and wondered if this was common. The water is extremely cold and I wondered if the Lake was stocked or If the fish came down a creek. I caught the fish near Coon which is around the corner from Sougahatchie Creek. Was I just lucky or is this common.

MAYBE.. I HAVE SEEN SOME OF THEM CAUGHT BEFORE. THEY ARE NOT GOOD FOR EATING. IF YOU CATCH A SPECKLED OSMS, DON'T EAT IT. YOU CAN PUT IT IN THE GARDEN TO GET RID OF BUGS/CRITTERS ETC. IF YOU EAT IT, YOU WILL GET VERY SICK. SOME PEOPLE SAY, IF YOU PUT IT IN YOUR GARDEN, ALL THE BUGS WILL GO AWAY, PLUS, ALL THE PLANTS WILL DIE. ANYWAY, BE VERY CAREFUL IF YOU EVER CATCH A SPECKLED OSMS. I KNOW A LADY THAT CAUGHT A SPECKLED OSMS, SHE COOKED IT AND THE SMELL KILLED BOTH OF HER HOUSE CATS(SERIOUSLY). AND, LAKEMAN AND BABYGIRL CAUGHT A SPECKLED OSMS, THEN THEY GAVE IT TO THE NEIGHBORS, AND THEY FED IT TO THE LOCAL DOGS, AND NOW THOSE DOGS ARE CAUSING TROUBLE, GO FIGURE.

Oh yea, one day... Someone ran over a Speckled OSMS with a go-fast boat, and it tore the entire transom out of the boat. The Speckled OSMS floated up and was hauled to Iraq and transformed into a car bomb. It was an ugly site. If you want to, just google 'Speckled OSMS' and you will see what I am talking about. It is one, NASTY, Stinkin' fish.

LMAO, thanks cat I needed a good laugh, I guess a couple of serious post deserve a couple of non-serious posts unless there are really some of those speckled Osms out there, lol
