I am considering putting some septic tanks on the man made island. Does anyone know what the regulations are regarding putting septic tanks on man made islands?

Since the island does not contain any shoreline that belonged to Alabama Power, since it did not exist when Alabama Power was obtaining rights to shoreline back in the 20's I don't believe that they have any control over what I do with the island. I may be wrong on this but I can't find a regulation anywhere that gives them such control.

I also need to know how far you must keep field lines from the lake. At this point in time, it looks like the island will have about 1500 feet of waterfront.

BTW I AM HOTROD NOT HOT ROD WHO IS SOMEONE WHO WANTS ME TO HAVE A BAD REP.

This may be a silly question, but why do you want to put a septic tank out there?

A tank must be no closer than 25 feet and fields lines must be 100 feet. There are many other thinks that are involved to get a permit. how did you build a man made island without Alabama powers approval?

I guess about 50% of the houses on the lake should start tearing them down. They will need to get those lines way back.

Hotrod is definitely full of something, I'm just not sure that it's hot air.

I don't believe it has anything to do with Alabama Power. Whatever county you are in is responsible for septic tamk permits. Elmore county has just adopted some much stronger rules. You can go on line to the Elmore county web site and get all of the information. If you aren't in Elmore I can't help. I might have a man made island too. At least that is what I am calling the land that is where my water used to be.
Good luck
