Okay Obama supporters -

Please tell me this give you good feelings about Obama...

Another Deeply Troubling Comment From Jesse Jackson
Editor’s Note: In his October 14 column in the New York Post Amir Taheri quotes from an interview he did with Jesse Jackson when he was in Evian, France last week to attend the World Policy Forum. Jackson told Taheri “although the ‘Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades’ remain strong, they’ll lose a great deal of their clout when Barack Obama enters the White House.” Jackson says he is not an Obama confidant or adviser, “just a supporter.” But he also describes him as a “member of the family.”

If the quote above is accurate and in context, Jesse Jackson has again exposed himself an anti-Semite at a level far deeper than his reference to New York City as “Hymietown” some years ago.

The blaming of Jews for the world’s problems is a familiar refrain from bigots who seek to shift attention from the more difficult task of finding solutions instead of creating scapegoats. It was Hitler’s first step toward the Holocaust.

Barney Frank, who heads the House Banking Committee, is Jewish. Would Jackson include him among the “Zionists who control American policy,” or is Frank culpable for his regulatory oversight failings irregardless of his Jewishness?

What does Jackson mean that Obama is part of the “family”? Would that be the family of African-Americans, or the family of anti-Semites? If the latter, the public needs to know before the election. And especially American Jews need to know, given their support for Obama in such large numbers.

Changing American policy toward Israel is a major goal of Arab and Muslim groups inside and outside of America. They support Obama in large numbers. Bob Schieffer should ask Obama about Jackson’s remarks in tomorrow night’s debate. He should also ask him to which “family” he belongs.

Jesse Jackson Sr. is a bitter person who sees Sen Obama or any successful black person as a threat. He has been rebuked by his own son. I don't think he speaks for his son or Obama.

Obama Camp Responds to Jesse Jackson's Comments on ‘Zionists’

October 15, 2008 10:20 AM

In yesterday's New York Post, conservative columnist Amir Taheri reported on an interview with Rev. Jesse Jackson in Evian, France, at the World Policy Forum.

Taheri wrote that Jackson "promised 'fundamental changes' in US foreign policy - saying America must 'heal wounds' it has caused to other nations, revive its alliances and apologize for the 'arrogance of the Bush administration.' The most important change would occur in the Middle East, where 'decades of putting Israel's interests first' would end.

"Jackson believes that, although 'Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades' remain strong, they'll lose a great deal of their clout when Barack Obama enters the White House."

The Obama campaign's response to these vague quotes -- recorded by a columnist it considers hostile in a tabloid newspaper it considers biased against them -- from an interview with a man last publicly seen threatening to castrate Sen. Obama, is as follows, from Obama campaign national security spokesperson Wendy Morigi:

“Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. is not an adviser to the Obama campaign and is therefore in no position to interpret or share Barack Obama's views on Israel and foreign policy. As he has made clear throughout his career and throughout this campaign, Barack Obama has a fundamental commitment to a strong U.S.-Israel relationship, and he is advised by people like Dennis Ross, Daniel Kurtzer, Rep. Robert Wexler, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and Senator Joe Biden who share that commitment. As President, he will ensure that Israel can defend itself from every threat it faces, stand with Israel in its quest for a secure peace with its neighbors, and use all elements of American power to end Iran’s illicit nuclear program. No false charges can change Barack Obama’s unshakeable commitment to Israel’s security."

When a candidate has little actual history and experience to bolster his credentials, it is logical to define him by his associates, his memberships, his every comment, and basically, his life to this point. Obama supporters, at every turn, downplay anything to do with how Obama 'grew' to be a Presidential candidate if questions arise.

The sum total of a person's worthiness is his personal history, his personal actions, his friends, his demonstrated character. You can (and will) continue to see any question of these as an attack on the man. However, it is only reasonable to question - especially when the sum total of these things is directly opposed to our American way of life.

A previous post applauds BO for his heritage, his education, his rise to just 'being' a Presidential candidate. When most campaigns are bought and sold via special interests and political cronyism, I'm sorry, but that isn't a good enough reason to vote for him. We should elect a President that has proven what can be done - not just one who promises the moon.

I see it as a choice between Capitalism and Progressive Socialism. It boils down to that. The rest are underlying issues that make up our political differences. Thank goodness this great country of ours allows us to have our differences and opinions and to be able to voice them publicly. God Bless America.

Jesse Jackson only wishes that he was an Obama family member. Jesse's train left the station a long time ago. He and Al Sharpton have to try as hard as they can to get anyone to listen to them. I mean, what do they do for a living to get money?? Next thing he'll say is that he is Condi Rice's brother.

Interestingly, a military boss of mine (white, male) about 10 years ago did a Fellowship assignment in a African American Think Tank. He said it was very eye opening to him to find out how these people, distance themselves from people like Jesse and Al. The reason he cited is that the Think Tanker are more interested in pursuing the African American interests and issues from the inside rather than making a lot of noise and creating controversy.
