the messiah would call them wise men rather than czars.....Just another name for Advisors. Call down, all Presidents have had them. You guys get yourself all worked up over titles. The use of czar is a poor choice of job title.

but while other presidents have advisors ... this goes far beyond an advisor role. There are departments that are suppose to handle most of these areas and many others should not even exist. I am frankly suprised you can be comfortable with the term and just shrug it off ... another behavior that is not in line with our form of government.
Your messiah is the one using the term ... and it just points to his mindset. It is a term that does not belong in our government. Here is the definition:
czar /zɑr, tsɑr/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [zahr, tsahr] –noun 1. an emperor or king. 2. (often initial capital letter) the former emperor of Russia. 3. an autocratic ruler or leader. 4. any person exercising great authority or power

I missed in the definition that it was an "advisor".
Check the synonyms in your thesaurus ... no advisor.
But emporer, autocrat and ruler do come up a lot. Don't think those are terms that belong in a democracy.
Wake up.

"An appointed official having special powers to regulate or supervise an activity: a racetrack czar; an energy czar."
from dictionary.com - http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/czar
By the way, I think the use of the term is a poor choice ... but Obama isn't the first president to have a czar ... but he sure is using that name a lot more than any other president.
Link below to an interesting article about WH czars from last December. Talks about how creating czars can often usurp the authority of department secretaries ... but some examples of where it worked (maybe it was one instead of some?)
Also gives some history of other presidents who had czars.

Read the last line of my post. I agree the use of czar is ridiculous. I don't agree with em 100% or even 98%......

My problem with the concept, and this includes my discomfort when Bill Bennett was the drug czar, is there is really no definition of what a czar's responsibility and authority is and if they are really an advisor or hold an unelected, unconfirmed position in the executive branch.
My second concern is the quality of the individual given the role. Obviously the Green Czar was not the kind of person that even Obama can surround himself with once the public learns about the person's background and character. I think it says more about Obama that he views someone with this person's background for even a role as an advisor.
I agree with others that it is a stupid term and denotes way more power than the position seems to hold. Just another example of why I oppose Obama and hope he fails to implement many of the programs that will be ruinous to this great country.
