Went to this event last year for the first time and we had a great time. So wanted to let other forum members of the date of the event this year.  The way it works is as follows:

- $40.00 per couple or per person, if you do not have a significant other and purchase ticket prior to event. At door ticket is $50.00
- I would say there had to be approximately 20 or so competitors serving samples of the food entries for FREE.
- Beer was free, not sure about mixed drinks. But the group I was with brought their own liquor.
- 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards for top competitors in each category, such as Chili, Wild Game, Venison, etc. Cannot remember all the categories.
- Silent auction including some very nicely framed and matted outdoor pictures and AU and UA pictures, rods and reels, fishing tackle, hunting accessories, cabin / lakehouse nick nacks, etc.
- Live band
- Door prizes at the end, and then a live auction for very nice hunting and fishing trips, rods and reels, guns, etc.
- All the above goes to fund the Alabama Wildlife Federation and your ticket is good for a years subscription to their membership.

Lets just say after last years event, our group will be regular attendees as we and everyone we were with had a great time. Began at 6:00 and over by 11:00 or so.

Anyways see the URL below for a link to the event flyer as this is all I could find for the Alex City event. Also think Ulysses, Lil Talisi, Mack and all those other Egg Heads should sign up and compete for top honors.

Good event. We went to the cookoffs in B'Ham and Prattville in the past.
You wander around with a cold beverage and get samples of foods at each cooking station. But, the menu is anything but common BBQ treats, at least to me.
These folks are cooking with Wild Game, making chili, stew, skewered game, etc. Wild turkey, venison, wild pig, geese, duck, gator, on and on. Good stuff, but different. And, it is very tasty indeed.
