on my Lake Martin/Blue Creek canvass mildew stains. I tried the purple ZEP, I tried the peroxide/ammonia mixture, tried alcohol/water, salt, lemon juice....I've tried everything I've been told and no change. Any other suggestions? Thanks to all who've tried to help.

If you'll boil them Hot dogs for about 3 hours, then throw the dogs away, pour the liquid that's left over on the mildew it'll work its magic..............won't kill the mildew, but it'll change the color......!

Solution of lemon juice and salt. and a stiff brush.

I had one of the Big Foot hotdogs...and I bet it would kill the mildew. Thanks, I'll give it a try.

I would try Oxyclean. It works on most laundry stains since it gets down in the fibers.

The Heloise book says to use white vinegar or salt and lemon juice to kill the mildew. Then it says to blot the stain with lukewarm dishwashing liquid. Allow to dry, then wash with vinegar and water 1/2 & 1/2. It says that if this all fails, then apply some dry-cleaning solvent and blot. Wash as usual and allow to dry. THEN seal with the water proofing spray so you don't have to go through this trouble again!

hmmmm....rude , maybe we need to partner on this one...get a patent....sometimes just changing a color keeps many folks happy! I finally got all the mildew from my pontoon seats using a variety of things...had the most success with the magic eraser and a lot of elbow grease....and then when they began to look as good a new....one of them dadgummed water muskrats got in there one night and ate my seats up...now looking for upholstery person....

Use to use it on my patio umbrella and chair cushions.

Cannot guarantee it will work, but I know for sure you will also have to scrub with a stiff brush.

Isn't X-14 bleach?

Per their website --

The main ingredient in X-14 Mold & Mildew Stain Remover is sodium hypochlorite at a level generally 60% higher than similar bleaches on the market. The product is activated by pH adjustments.

sodium hypochlorite is high concentrate bleach.

But never changed the color of our patio furniture cushions but they were made out of a nylon type fabric.

If you try it, I would try a sample spot to ensure it will not bleach out the cover. And also a through rinsing with a soapy water to ensure all the X-14 is rinsed away as would not be good for the threads to have then soaking in bleach.

I'd try replacing it! I know, smart a** remark, but no more scrubbing!
