Can anyone give advice on getting XM radio? I know there is a merger going on with Sirius, but I don't believe it has happened yet...

So, I'm wondering if anyone has either subscription and what you prefer.

I have Sirius which I really like...but was upset that they dropped most sec college football teams from their broadcasting schedule...but I don't think it was their doing.....have been hoping that the merger would put together the best of both ...they spent way too much money on Howard Stern...

Have XM in one car and Sirius in another. Both are good. XM will be the survivor in the merger but it will take a while and may be turned down. Just like DISH and DirecTV were suppose to merge and it got blocked. That was blocked by the cable lobby that it would not give consumers enough choice. Like cable cared .... they just did not want stronger competion than they have now.

if you are a sports fan -- check what sports channels you get with XM -- they have been talking merger since spring of last year -i believe XM has better baseball coverage and college football coverage than the other one -- My husband has had both and likes XM so much better

I have Sirius in my car and XM in my airplane and listen to both. I prefer the Sirius talk show lineup over XM, the conservative side so I can't comment on the left leaning or other talk shows. As for music, I tend to prefer Sirius because I have had it longer and know which channels I like. With XM I am usually listening when I am flying so it gets interrupted too often to really enjoy.

One suggestion, I think you can listen to both through their websites although I am not positive. Try that if it works and see what you think.

the merger has been aproved and all stock converted to Sirius. in order to get regulatory approval the combined companies, among other things, had to come up with a plan for ala cart programing. in addition they are comming out with a reciever that will take signals from both sets of satelites.

if i were you i would wait until those new receivers come out, which should be shortly
