Nope.....but I sure could. Worst case for me was we had a huge hail storm pass through our neighborhood in GA damaging almost 60 homes, including my neighbors on either side. I had Allsnake Insurance at the time and had never had a claim in probably 15 years as a customer. Adjuster comes out, claims the damage to the roof was caused by lack of ventilation and denied the claim. I asked how the lack of ventilation caused the dents in the roof vents. So they hired some hack, whorish engineer to say the holes were pock marks caused by bubbling of the shingles. Fought with them for a while but in the meantime went ahead and had the roof replaced. Lo and behold on our next renewal they cancelled us because our roof was "old". I told the broker that my goal in life was to cost Allsnake $1M in annual premiums over this $12,000 claim. I am well on my way. There is a reason Allsnake has to advertise so much as they go through customers due to their corrupt claims process.
As an interesting side note, my one neighbor had State Farm and they didn't even come look at the house and paid for the new roof as they said the area fell into some disaster category based on the storm. I have yet to talk to one neighbor in our area that didn't get a new roof from the storm. There was a reason at the time that a website call www.allstatesucks.com existed until Allsnake sued them out of existence.

I consider ourselves fortunate to have USAA. I've never had them deny a claim. But I don think when there is a "mass" disaster - like tornadoes or damaging hail or whatnot, you do fair less well with the insurance companies than if you have a singular disaster. I did have a leak in my downstairs, caused by a nail in a water pipe, which got very expensive because I had to hire the guy with the sonar to figure out where it was, and then they jackhammered to find it and all that. I called USAA and reported it and was told that it wasn't covered. So when they sent me a little survey asking me how happy I was with the outcome of my claim, I told them I was very unhappy, etc and the next day a supervisor called and told me that I had been inappropriately denied and they covered the whole thing.
They aren't as good a company as they once wrere, but they are still much, much better than a lot of others.

To be honest, it was a better company when it was just limited to miliatry officers, like when we got it back in the 70s. The service was much more personal. Now that they have really opened it up, it's still good, but it's not as personal as it once was. They have expanded into banking and investing, where it used to be just insurance. It was popular for military people, because they would provide insurance ogoing overseas.

Recently received our 50 year membership bumper sticker but it was tossed into a drawer spomewhere. Agree with all you posted. When I was on active duty and had a moving damage claim to file with them they would just say "how much was the damage?" and I would give them an amount and two or three days later a reimbursement check would show up in the mail. no claim filed, no hassle, but they certainly have diversified...maybe too far. They still are quite accommodating when a claim does have to be filed. And getting a few pennies back in December and a little more in February from our Subscriber Savings Account isn't hard to take either.
