This may sound like an ad so sorry ahead of time.

Who has been to Harbor Point lately?

What a difference a few months can make.

Granted, the condos aren't done yet but the marina is amazing. Had a slice of the 'za for lunch. Quite good. And for $2 a slice, well worth it. The slice had Everything for the toppings. Slice size reminded me of usual city-style, i.e., 1/4 the pizza (don't cut the pie into 8-pieces, just 4 since I can't eat 8). Good size and don't have to buy the whole pie. Pizza kitchen seems to have a good assortment. $8 for a pie, on the water, & get beer/wine at the same place. The breakfast biscuits are good too (7:30 - 8 am, they're ready). Don't have to go out onto 49 to get breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Lotsa frozen stuff with microwave, e.g., steaks. Yep, a well-stocked convenience store.

Bldg-B already getting expanded.
Bldg-A getting torn-down. Replacement will be 3-full-service bays and a showroom. Currently, a ski-boat company, pontoon company, and, Four Winns (demo boats to come-in soon).

The Yacht Club clubhouse is really nice as well. They're having some type of big shin-dig tonight. Wish I was staying the weekend.

Overall, quite impressive.

Kim, Linda & Lee were stating the hours will be 8-5 weekdays, 8-7 weekends. This is as-of today, and, of course, this may change. Even said the new docks next year will really make the place stand-out. Now all they need is the Windjammer to open-up again.

We were there this weekend, and the place is GREAT. They really have made a big difference. They seem to really be doing it right. They are not skimping on anything that we can see. Very helpful also.

They did say that some of the merchandise like t-shirts and things were arriving a little late, can't wait to buy some.

You know that there's a day, just around the corner, when "they" (the universal "they," not specifically HP) will start filling in and "reclaiming" parts of the lake because they've run out of room for buildings, parking lots, etc.

But what do we know, T-Man? After all, we've been part of the lake so long that our opinions no longer matter, right?

I read yesterday that the suburbs of Atlanta is one of the fastest growing areas in the Nation. It is also becoming one of the most congested according to the report. We all know that Lake Martin is a big draw for people from Atlanta. A lot of new money looking for a Lake to enjoy. They all know that the property tax is cheaper in Alabama than in Georgia.

Well Jim, I hope for their sake they have a lot more. I do believe you missed my point. It was not all about how much money you have but with growth in nearby Atlanta. This will possibly lead to significant growth in the recreational areas particularly if they are more affordable. Property tax is one of the many things that you look at when you buy. Most important is desirabliity, and you can not beat Lake Martin with any other place I know of in the South East. Demand vs. supply will lead to even higher prices for property and the explosion of development and growth.

Hello fellow canoe-er...:) You are right. It seems wisdom, knowledge and history have no value to anyone other than the beholder. That's solice enough for me though...I stopped trying to shine a light for everyone to see. Nobody was looking anyway.
Once I learned to change the things I can and not sweat the things I couldn't, contentment managed to hang around a little longer...
