Not needing any smart answers, does anyone know on which day the fireworks will happen? I'm guessing Sunday evening, the "real 4th", but would like to make sure, as different communities sometimes move celebrations around.
Also, are they being set off at the ampitheater again?
This is our first time at being able to be on the lake overnight that coincides with the fireworks display. I've been told we may wish to rethink because of the danger involved when everyone rushes home.
I'd like to hear opinions from recent year's attendees.
Thanx.

Don't rush home, just hang out where you are until most of the boats have left.

My first trip to view them, I was a novice at driving a pontoon boat at night. We cruised home no issues. Inspect your lights and boat prior to the day of the trip.

I think if your careful, the viewing by boat can be fantastic.

P.S. Make sure your radio works in your boat, or you take a boom box along with you to enjoy the music as well with the fireworks.

Just hang out when the display is over. The lunatics will haul a$$ away from there as soon as it is over. Just hang out and keep your eyes open for people that arent paying attention. Having an air horn would also be a good idea. The view from the water is beautiful and well worth it. Just be careful.

If there is ever a time to wear one while boating, this would be it.

According to the Lake Martin Amphitheater website (www.lmat.org) the fireworks are indeed on July 4. Gates open at 3:00, program begins at 4:00.

I may be wrong, but I think they actually light the fireworks from a barge out in front of the amphitheater, not actually on land. But I could be wrong.

It is a good idea to have a battery powered Qbeam light in case everything goes dead or if running lights go out. The waves generated from all the boats leaving after the show is like almost being in the gulf.
You certainly do not want to be out there in a small boat.

A couple of years a go we were out there and thunderstorm came up all of a sudden; we saw pontoons boats having problems because with the big waves coming over the boat and most of the time the boats for the fireworks are overloaded with people.

it would be a good idea to know the area well too. There are some shallow spots from the bottom of the hill headed to the bridge.

We brave it, are safe as possible doing it. And It's WORTH it. Being right under the lights as they go off is great.

Been there, done that one time. The night of the thunder storm we stayed at the cabin. It was unreal the people that filled up the slough at Pleasure Point, scared to death., Stole the Marina blind. Best thing to do is stay home , sit on the porch ,and let the idots see the fireworks. Especially if kids are involved.

It's a great opportunity to see a spectacular event when you go by boat and get semi-close to their point of origin. There is always around 5000 to 6000 boats in the water and seeing all of them with their Nav lights on is truly beautiful. As you can tell from the many responses, there are always some idiots that cause it to be worse than it should be. However, waiting 15 minutes after it's over and planning for a slow trip home should take any real danger out of your evening. Be cautious and you should be alright and have a good time!

We usually stop our boat some distance from the bridge that will allow us to see the fireworks and not be in the mob. The show usually starts about 9:00pm and ends around 9:30pm. We usually crank the boat and head slowly back toward the cabin about 9:25. That way we can catch the finalee and then beat the drag race crowd.
