We had a boat load of folks yesterday and went on a sightseeing tour for the benefit of af a couple of 'newbies'. We cruised to the dam and as we were coming back up toward the rock I noticed a Volkswagon bus on the water on the eastern bank. We rode closer to check it out and found what has to be one of the neatest coves on the lake. The VW bus body built onto a pontoon boat was just the beginning. The entire cove has an 'artistic' look and feel. The owners have spent a small fortune building bridges, walking paths, sitting areas, rope swings, zip lines, and the like, all beautifully landscaped. If you have never seen this place and are in the neighborhood, ride by and give it look. It is worth the time, especially if you enjoy seeing different and unique places. It is now on my list of 'must see' places to take freinds and family when we are out cruising the lake.

If the owners read this forum, CONGRATS GUYS!! You have built a really unique and wonderfull retreat.

We found the cove you are referring to several years ago and have watched it become the beauty it is today. It has been featured on HGTV and is owned and maintained by a family from Montgomery. The garden areas are far more beautiful than you can see from the water. We actually met the owner about a month ago and he invited us for a self guided tour. Multiple waterfalls and clear places that are not visible from the water. He said that he mostly built it for his grandchildren and their enjoyment.

He is most definitely devoted to his family then. We could tell that what we were able to see was only 'skin deep'. The sitting areas we could see were wonderful and we pondered on what might be just beyond the tree line. It was all good but the bridge to the rope swing and zip line was da bomb!! But the diving rock with fountain was pretty cool too. I would pay for a tour of the place!!

Can you give specific directions on how to find this location?

The best I can do is tell you to start at the dam and coming back up the river ride close to the eastern bank and watch for the VW bus. It is close to the union of Kowliga creek and the river channel. I was not paying real close attention to how far we had come back up the river when I spotted the bus. I was'nt driver oon this trip, I was the heavy drinker...lol.

Sorry guys/gals but that is the best I can do for specifics. It is always harder to tell someone how to find a place on big water, but if you do what I said, you should see it.

JUST REMEMBER TO BE COURTIOUS TO THE HOMEOWNERS IN THE COVE!! IT IS THEIR HOME, WE ARE JUST CURIOUS ''LOOKY LOO'S".

You wouldn't believe the incredible wine cellar he has built into the side of the hill nor the castle he has built for his children which you cannot even see from the water. I am with you that this is one of the lake's best kept secrets.
