about the SC decision to knock down the NY law concerning concealed carry permits.  In NY, and in other states, you have to prove that you need a concealed weapon in order to get a permit.  That will no longer be the case.  To be honest, I have always thought that it was a bit silly to need a concealed carry permit - it would seem to me that what you should need a permit for is carrying your weapon openly.  REmember when Starbucks and customers at Krogers got themselves worked up and felt "unsafe" when people were carrying their ARs into the stores?

I have a concealed carry permit and as long as they will issue them, I will continue to get one - At least in Coosa, Sheriff's office said the money goes into the coffers of the Sheriff's office to buy things they need, since they don't get enough money allocated to them.  Seems like money well spent to me.

Georgia recently passed a law that did away with concealed carry permits.  As for open carry, I always feel safer when I go into a store and see someone with a handgun in a holster.  I conceal carry all the time but have never open carried because I know it freaks some people out.  But I like it when I see someone open carry.

I'm somewhat laughing because we are talking about handguns - no one is conceal carrying their much hated AR.  And as if criminals who are likely to pose a threat, don't care if they have a permit or not.  Much ado about nothing.

By the late legislative session.  Will Coosa county continue to issue a permit?

My understanding is that within the State you won’t need a license, but if you go to any other state you should have an Alabama license, or have a really good excuse why you’re in their state w/o License.

Ineteresting....I assume this would not apply if you live in a Constitutional carry state and travel to same, right?  I understood that since both GA and AL are that I can conceal carry in AL even though I'm a GA resident.

https://www.handgunlaw.us/documents/Permitless_Carry_States.pdf

Officers I have talked to have claimed different things so YMMV

13A-11-85 Reciprocity for Licenses Issued in Other States. (a) A person licensed to carry a handgun in any state shall be authorized to carry a handgun in this state. This section shall apply to a license holder from another state only while the license holder is not a resident of this state. A license holder from another state shall carry the handgun in compliance with the laws of this state. (b) The Attorney General is authorized to enter into reciprocal agreements with other states for the mutual recognition of licenses to carry handguns and shall pperiodically publish a list of states which recognize licenses issued pursuant to Section 13A-11-75.

Seems odd that you would need recriprocal agreements with other states if you ar now "permitless"  law. above may have been altered with the permitless carry ( not effective until Jan 2023 for those who wonder )
