I haven't been to Alabama for 30 some years..never before vacationed here nor ever been to Lake Martin. I show up Friday and its rained or threatened rain ever since! Got caught in that awful storm arounf noon. Was up near the Rock and I watched these weather patterns (and asked on this forum) about the weather patterns. I felt pretty confident they were all going west to east across the Lake. This one spread out and started heading south towards the dam. We tried to outrun it but it caught us quick. We took refuge in a cove at Cherokee Heights. A wonderful man welcomed my family..perfect strangers he had never met before..and our dog..into his home and safe from the storm. What wonderful people we have in our great country and particularly here at Lake Martin.

So, are you pleased with Doggie Town Care?

very much pleased. Shawn and Michelle absolutely love animals and they have catered their whole place around their comfort. Dogs with good social skills can play with other dogs and come and go inside and out as they please. They have couches and chairs for dogs to lounge on. They have taken a liking to my girl and she is up front with them all day.

On an extremely unfortunate note..we took her with us yesterday to swim and play in the lake. After we got caught in the thunderstorm she cut her foot ON SOMEONES BROKEN DISCARDED BEER BOTTLE!! I didn't think it was too bad at first but it kept bleeding and Michelle urged me to take her to the vet. She had a very deep puncture wound that required inside and outside stitches. They had to put her to sleep and keep her overnight. I pick her up this AM. She has to wear a lampshade and bandage for 10 days until she gets her stitches out. $300+ vacation emergency. Low water, rain, caught in thundertsorms, trip to vet...whats next? Something tells me I should have stayed home (Myrtle Beach) golfed a few rounds and layed on the beach...(even if I do that all the time)

A week on Lake Martin.........PRICELESS!!

Just kiddng around a little bit. I truly hope your girl is OK. I am sorry that you had to find some rednecks trash like that. Every time I stop at a beach I make sure to walk around and pick up as much trash as I can find. This year with the low water there has been an abundace of half buried 'treasures'. Come back another year and give the souths best kept secret a second chance. Hmmm... on second thought tell EVERYONE how miserable it was..lol.

Which Vet did you use?

PHEW, you had me worried! When I read your post and you wrote, "She had a very deep puncture wound that required inside and outside stitches. THEY HAD TO PUT HER TO SLEEP.....", I thought that you were using the euphemism for euthanizing. So I'm glad I didn't stop reading right there (HA!). Glad to hear that she's doing better.
